Gwen sat on the high and thick mattress and her back rested on two huge pillows. She used her spoon to scrape the last of the soup out of the bowl. Throne walked into the bedroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. He pulled back his long black hair into a ponytail. Gwen eyed his chisel body from head to toe. He turned to the crystal wall and waved his hand as an image appeared on the wall. 1
The dark green forest emerged in front of their eyes. A group of twelve men walked into the clearing next to the entrance of the base. The men wore green jackets and pants with black shirts and boots. Throne studied these men. These were mortal men as he could see the wrinkles around their eyes. 2
However, one stood out. This man had no wrinkles around his dark brown eyes. His short sandy-brown color hair went below his ears. The man’s pale skin was beginning to tan and he walked like a true warrior. Not like the others who were scared. Three of the men held tiny boxes in their hands. Each of them carried a long narrow thick tube that had a thick handle on it. Throne watched the intruders. 3
“Gwen, were these the men that attacked you?” He stepped out of her way. 4
She put down her bowl. “No. I thought that you killed them all.” 5
“A couple of them got away, but their wounds were very bad.” He grabbed for his robe as he pressed on the wall. A drawer slid out. Her blue eyes widen. 6
“Throne, what’s going on?” She started to shake. He put the robe on and then walked over to Gwen. “I’m not sure.” He sat down next to her. 7
She grabbed his hand. “Are we safe here?” 8
He put his arm around her to feel her soft and youthful skin. “We are. You need to eat so you can gain your strength.” He kissed the top of her head. “Com, go on alert and power down unnecessary systems until these men leave the area.” 9
A blue light ran through the wall. “I understand,” Com said. 10
Gwen looked into his dark brown eyes. “Why do I have the feeling that you are not telling me everything?” 11
He ran his fingers through her long blonde hair. “Just trust me. You need to get some sleep. Your training starts tomorrow.” 12
Gwen lifted up her head. “I’m not old enough yet.” 13
Throne watched the image on the wall as the lights grew dim. “You are, and sleeping with me makes you ready for the training.” 14
Gwen pulled away from him and brought her knees to her chest. “Everything is happening so fast.” She gave out a huge sigh. 15
Throne watched the men returned to the forest. “There’s something else that’s bothering you.” 16
She watched him from the corner of her eye. “Maybe I shouldn’t have left the clan.” Tears ran down her cheeks. “I miss my sisters.” 17
Throne put back his arms behind his head. “I didn’t force you to come with me.” 18
Her face turned a bright red. “For your protection, I had to sleep with you!” She kicked him. 19
Throne just laid there. “As I remembered, you wanted too. I don’t refuse women who want to.” He cracked the smile. “You had no rubies to pay me.” 20
“Is that all you think about is rubies and sex!” She slammed her hand on the pillow. 21
He turned his head towards her. “I left the kingdom and had to become a soldier for hire. Living outside of the kingdom takes rubies to live.” 22
Gwen pulled the pink blanket to her neck. She knew he was right. The past three years she had experienced the lies, the greed, and the desperation for herself. Their kingdom just did nothing. 23
As a child, Gwen’s teacher had taught her that her people were great army that helped other kingdoms in their time of need. Now, her people reduced to being rebels and forgotten heroes of the past. 24
“Then, I’m a rebel too.” Gwen said. 25
Throne put his arms around her. “No. You’re special and will do great things.” 26
She laid her head on his chest. “I want to go back to the kingdom with you by my side.” More tears raced down her face. 27
“You are my beloved and I have sworn an oath to you.” He stroked her hair. “Going back isn’t an option that we have.” He looked at the wall to see that the men were gone. “Com, image off,” he said as he held Gwen in his arms. 28

Throne entered the holding compartment as he wore brown boots with black leather pants and a tan sleeveless shirt that was unbuttoned. He walked over to Hugo, who was a sleep on the hay. He glanced on the small screen to check the tiger’s vital signs. He sat down next to him and began to rub his head. 29
“It will soon be time for you to protect Gwen and help her on her quest.” He watched Hugo breathe. “I fear the future and what it might bring, but, as long as you with her, she will be all right.” He listened to Hugo purr as he rubbed the tiger’s ear. “You and I have been through a lot together. Our adventures are ending. I hope that you can look past your hurt to see the truth.” Throne stood up and used his hands to wipe away the hay.30
A blue light filled the room. “Hugo is fine and will be waking up soon.” 31
Throne watched him lay there. “Use your walls to create whatever he wants. I want him to be happy and well rested.” He walked out of the room to join Gwen. 32

The next morning, Gwen woke up to find Throne was gone. The bedroom gradually grew brighter as she moved around. In front of her were new clothes with new shiny black boots that hung on the wall. 33
Gwen kicked off the pink blanket and arose from the mattress. She walked over to the clothes. The pants were purple, as her fingers ran down the smooth silky textile fabric. Next, she grabbed the long sleeve white button shirt. She balled up the material; let it go, and it had no wrinkles. She took the shirt to feel the softness next to her face. The purple jacket danced with its silver buttons in the light. 34
It has been a long time since I wore wonderful clothes! 35
Her life with Throne had been very rough. There were times that she had almost left him to return home. She also had wonderful times as freedom had filled her veins. She looked at these clothes, but something didn’t seem right to her. 36
I can’t shake this feeling that you are up to something. 37
A blue light raced through the walls that brought Gwen out of her thoughts. “Throne said to meet him in the dining hall after you take your shower,” Com said. 38
She shrugged her shoulders. “All right.” 39
“Throne has other clothes in the bathroom for you,” Com said as the blue light disappeared. 40
Gwen turned and headed towards the bathroom’s door. Her heart pounded in her chest, sweat poured down her back, as blurry images flashed before her eyes. She shook her head to gain control of her body as she walk to the door. Then it slid open, as images of tall grasses and trees ran throughout the bathroom’s walls.
“Are you all right? Your vitals are very high,” Com said. 41
Gwen took a huge breath in and then let it out. “I’m fine, just being a little jumpy today.” 42
“I have set the water temperature for you, and enjoy the shower.” 43
Gwen entered. The door slid behind her as she cringed. She slipped off the gown and walked over to the shower. The running water let her relax as it poured all over her body.
