The Swing Chapter Seven

Chalice sat down on her bed and started to dial her number when Ace popped up in her head again. She just didn't get it, what was he doing, if he wanted to be her friend, he didn't have to become her stalker. The phone started ringing and she forgot about it again. 1

"Hey," hearing Tom's voice on the other end made her feel so happy. 2

"Hi."3

"Hows your new home?" She knew Tom was trying to be positive, even if it wasn't exactly that type of situation. 4

"I want to move back."5

"You still hate it, you had to have made some friends by now." Tom was feeling the same way she was, he wanted her back, but he knew that was impossible so wasn't going to think about it and just tried to get her to admit shes having some fun, just to make him feel better to know shes happy there at least some what.6

"Well, I met someone today who could be a potential friend if he doesn't become my stalker first." She gave a slight laugh trying to make it humorous at the thought of having a stalker. 7

"He cant stalk you, Ill get him." They both started laughing, something neither one had done much for a while. 8

"Yeah," Chalice dumped down a little bit, not sounding so happy anymore. 9

"Oh come on, it cant be that bad."10

"You would think so wouldn't you, its just not that easy to make friends when your in high school and new." 11

"Well you were bound to move at some point." Trying to give her some comfort even if it wasn't the best.12

"Yeah, I know, but I was hoping the next time I would move I would be with you in some way." Tom had never thought of that, the way things were was so normal, from when they were little to the present he never thought of the future, but now that it crossed his mind all he wanted to do was think about it.13

"You mean you really wanted to be with me the rest of your life?" He didn't want to sound like he didn't want to be with her, it just was kind of new territory. 14

"Well yeah, don't you want to spend yours with me?" Feeling kind of stupid now, maybe Tom was never intending on it lasting forever.15

"Yeah, definitely, its just...never actually looked at it as a possibility."16

"Oh," there was silence for a while as they both pondered on this new topic. Chalice thought about how much she loved Tom and how willing she was to always be with him. To her he was just about everything there was. Tom felt the same way about her, but the thing was, they just couldn't explain it. Figuring out love is so powerful, it cant be expressed through words, its just something they both simply had to know.17

As they both sat on their beds they slipped into thinking on their future, marriage, kids, getting old together, and so on. Something to explore as she realized, Tom was it, there was no one else, not that there ever would be, but now she was so certain.18
