seriously, i have never gotten really lost, and yet today i was like, "i dont know where i am". i recognized the street, but not the name of it.i saw sammy, he was like "whats poppin?" i coulda swore ive been to that convinient store before, but john had the night off, maybe...so here i was standin on the corner of desperation...and without money...why does a phone call to guatamala cost one seventy five, when she coulda called me for twelve cents?1

Red was the color that used to turn my head, so i was surprised to hear my neck crack when she walked by. All i remember was the way her soft form became enhanced by the glow of the Larrys Pizza now under new management sign. She wasnt anything to stare at...her lips seemed developed by the local one hour Fotomat, and her hair was strewn across her forehead like particle board after the tornadoes of eighty six. But i glanced until i gazed, and my peripherals became extinct. i was locked into tunnel vision fantasy. never before have i seen a person so wrapped up in the woolen blanket of forlorn. Shuddering in the heat, and stranded in misdirection, i nevertheless found the courage to approach her. i searched for redemption in her eyes, but instead became entangled in the force of her unspoken willingness. like an adjective i became hooked to her actions.2

"what is your name?", i requested.3

"leave me alone", she replied.4

"sorry...so sorry..."5

and then the scent of expensive perfume drove off, leaving me shaking again...6

so here i was lost, and without money. I felt the sweat emulsify into rain. I witnessed a pull-over. never forget them county blues...The only thought that entered was Matthew 6:10. Yes im forcin you to look it up. anger and emotion are derived from desperation, and i had proverbial vultures hyphenated above me.7

then out of nowhere, spruce street became first north and i longed for chocolate milk and my mattress. 8
