Looking back in time...I met my soulmate on New Years Day, the year was 1972.1
Emptiness had taken over my life, at that time, and I was quite bored when not working. My evenings were filled with routine chores, caring for my children, and watching the boob-tube (TV) most every day. The weekends seem to go on forever. Oh! I dearly loved my children, but there is no comparison to having the arms of a man, to cuddle you near.2
The girls from my job asked me to join them on this particular day. We went to the local lounge; where all the neigbors and close friends would meet. Exchanging the latest gossip, have a few drinks and dance, if the notion struck them.3
Never, did I suspect this would be my lucky day. This gentleman of fine dress and demeanor, ventured toward me. My heart skipped several beats as he leaned in toward me, an said, "shall we dance".4
Feeling a weakness, I had never experienced before, I rose to join him. He politely took my hand and led me to the dance floor. As he put his strong arm around me, I melted into his body; an fit, like a hand in a glove. From that very moment, I was in love. We danced away the evening an agreed, to meet the following day for an informal lunch. 5
From that meeting forward, we were always together. Every opportunity we had a chance. After a short time, we decided on a live-in relationship. For approximately three years, of continuous romance, we lived together. Our friends teased us for sticking together like glue. We did everything together, enjoying each others companionship.6
We married on 14 February 1975, Valentine's Day, which seemed the perfect day. Our friends, gave us a gift of a motel room for a change of scenery. We laughed.7
My soulmate an I shared the same wavelength, all the time we were together. He kept me on a pedestal for thirty-two years, before cancer took his life and I fell.8
My life changed drastically, with him gone. I fumble through my daily routine, alone. Knowing that soon God will call me home. I feel him waiting for me...

Do you like the song "How Deep Is Your Love" by The Bee Gees?

yes I do, it's lovely...

Well I certainly hope this is fiction, especially with that ending, we should never wait to be "called home" nor would the husband want his wife to be called, until it is her time, I'm pretty sure of that.
It's a poignant tale of finding, keeping and losing love, not that death ever ends love, not in the least.
I have never experienced that degree of love, I have loved deeply twice, one fell out of love, the second gave up on me, it was long distance, and neither wanted to move. Sad but that is life.
And why have I just told you my pathetic stories of love? lol The power of your story I guess, thanks.

As a gentle, sweet and loving reminder of that experience of your life - THE EXPERIENCE - this has charm and strikes sweet notes. There are number of typos - "an" instead of "and" for example, and "neigbors" for "neighbours".
I am sure that you realise that as a story for publication however it lacks tension and interest for the general reader, but, hey, you never intended for publication. Warm regards. -
Thanks for entering and good luck in the contest.

Very Well Written!
This is quite a heart felt piece and I assume a true story. I hope that you will find interests to keep you happy and I hope that Storywrite will be one of these. I know how it feels to go through life with nothing but a boring routine. I find a lot of satisfaction in writing.
Thanks for entering the new members contest.
