Becca ran her finger under the icy water coming from the pipe. She couldn't believe she'd been so stupid as to burn herself with the damn match. The last time she ever did anything nice for anyone...burnt trying to light a stupid birthday candle on a cupcake. 1
All in a moment she froze. A chill rolled over her despite the sticky May afternoon. /Don't move,/ something in her head told her. /They can't see you if you don't move.../ It took her a moment or two to shake off the silliness that took her, and longer to convince herself that it was just a passing madness.2
She grabbed her backpack and walked out of the bathroom, only to run smack into some guy she'd seen before. She mumbled an apology, and went to move on when he actually spoke to her. "It's no problem," he said with a devilish grin and with a voicethat simply enthralled her. The moment where he stared at her seemed to last forever before she blushed and turned back down the hallway. She breathed deeply and resisted the urge to look back. She couldn't stand to see him staring. She hated it when people stared.3
If she /had/ bothered to look back she would have brushed even harder, because he was indeed staring with something that would have been a plot if they hadn't been in high school.
Author notes
yeah, I'm not gonna write out the whole title anymore if I decide to continue. So I'll now abreviate it. You want to know the whole title after this? Then go read the first chapter =)
