My Best Friend

I met my best friend, named Mariah, in the 6th grade. We have only known each other a few years, but I know more about her than people she has known her entire life. We have been through everything together. She is my shoulder to cry on, my encouragement when I am nervous. I don’t know what I would do without her, or what I would be.1

It is amazing how we suddenly clicked. We are so different on the outside, me being a nerdy dork and her being a Gothic punk. But when you really came to notice us, you could see we were so much alike on the inside: caring, loving, supporting, and loyal. I have been hurt so many times and betrayed by my friend before, but she secretly, without speaking to me, lets me know not to worry. I would give up everything for her, even my life. I am sure she would do the same for me.2

Author notes

This is only 162 words, but it really is very true and just seeing Mariah's face when she read this means a lot to me.

It's funny how we often to relate to people we never thought we would. I thinks it's wonderful that you are both so accepting of one another in spite of your differences. I hope your friendship continues to flourish.

It's always interesting to note the paths that God and life take us on. Sometimes we find the greatest joys in places we thought there was no hope in finding anything. Good luck.
