Teens seek adult and parental guidance to help them to understand the things that are happening to them, whether it is physical or emotional. But most teens either have parents, who are not available, or they do not know how or what they should ask to get help, because they are afraid of what type of reaction they would receive. And when they do tell someone, it just causes more problems. Current studies show that the reasoning behind teens that try to kill themselves could be very well based on mental, or physical problems that have occurred for a long period of time or even something more specific.1
Suicidal adolescents may view a temporary situation as a permanent condition. They need someone to take the time to realize that they are in pain, someone who can relate to them, or someone who will just listen. That is really all they are asking for. They need friends just as much as anyone else does.2
Ninety percent of the teens who kill themselves have given clear warning signs, such as3
· Suicide threats, indirect or direct4
· Giving away belongings5
· Obsession with death6
· Poems, essays, and drawings that refer to death7
· Dramatic changes in personality, appearance8
· Irrational or bizarre behavior9
· Overwhelming sense of guilt, shame or reflection10
· Changed eating or sleeping patterns11
And12
· Severe drop in school performance13
If you see any of these warning signs in your friends you should call a Suicide Hot line in your state, or tell a school councilor, teacher, or officer immediately. The rate for teen suicide keeps increasing rapidly. Depression is considered to be the major psychiatric disorder of the twentieth century. Many teens are now being diagnosed with bi-polarism, which is also known as a manic depressant. At least fifty percent of teens that commit suicide or attempt suicide have been involved in some sort of traumatic event in their life, such as divorce, sexual or physical abuse, or alcohol, and substance abuse, at school, ore at home. Teens should feel that teacher’s, councilors at schools, and parents at home are available to listen, but unfortunately, ninety percent of the time they do not, either because they are afraid that when they talk to someone, they will be judged, or maybe they have made the attempt to talk to someone, and have been scuffed off as trying to get attention. It is really sad that people have to feel this way. People who are depressed are not crazy, or stupid. They should not be judged, for they are human, just like you and I are. But do you know what is even sadder? The fact that most of the judging happens right there in your own schools, yet many schools try to avoid the topic of depression. And unfortunately many teens commit suicide because they do not understand what they are feeling, no one really does, not your parent’s, not the psychologists, no one! And the reason so many teens are committing suicide is simply because no one talks about it. Many times the subject is avoided because teachers do not believe it will happen in their school, or they are afraid that if they bring up the subject or suicide, it will put the thought in their heads, that it is okay for them to commit suicide, or if they have been contemplating it, they will think that ‘well this person did it, so why shouldn’t I?’ They are afraid they are sending the wrong message. Well make it known that you are available to them! Do what you are there to do; protect them! Many teens who commit suicide feel that they cannot communicate their feelings with people because they believe that they will think they are crazy or have even said that they are only doing it for attention and should be ignored, when many of them are just looking for someone they can trust and are able to talk to. And many times, they truly do not have some one to talk to. People do not realize how serious suicide is, because they think it will never happen to them, or anyone they know, so why should they worry about it? Well the answer is very simple, BECAUSE IT DOES HAPPEN, but no one pays attention to the person who is suffering, they ignore them. Many teens also may have anxiety disorders, caused by depression, which in turn also causes them to do irrational things that will indefinitely make people think they are crazy, or so they think it will. Some even begin to think of themselves as crazy, or not worth living. Many teens that are depressed use self-mutilation to comfort them, such as banging their wrists or head against corners, sharp objects, or walls. Many of them also may suffer from personality disorders such as, paranoia, schizo typo, borderline, dependant, histrionic, or avoidant. These are only a few of the personality disorders. And as it was said earlier in the report, these disorders are usually caused by some traumatic event in their life. No one really knows what it is like to be in their position until they put themselves in their shoes. A lot of people even think that depression is faked, well read my poem called Depression and you will understand that it is an illness, not a faked problem. If you see any of the things listed above in any of your friends, or family, tell someone. And if you are the one who feels this way, call this number it is a national hot line, 1-800-SUICIDE(1-800-884-2433)14

This is a good write for those who use AP as many write about attempted suicides and depression. The information is the main thing in this write, so you have given that and where to call for help. GOod for you!

Thank you!!!
Your grammar is poor and your sentence and paragraph structure are as well, but that doesn't in any way detract from the simple fact that you performed a valuable, even critically important, service here. I suffer from depression myself, and before i got a hold of it - by controlling it through medication - it almost killed me. It did make me mad, and I fear it has harmed me forever, causing permanent damage to my mind. I am thrilled that you wrote your report, I profusely thank you, and i wish nothing but the best for you and yours. Great job!!! -

I think this is very well written. Depression is a scary thing.

Excellent!
So many people do not understand depression. Sometimes even those who are depressed dont understand it and go further berating themselves "Why can't you just do what you KNOW you need to?" Depression is not only a chemical imbalance but a psychological one too and in so many teens these days who are suffering from it, the symptoms, you're right... are overlooked. So many people suffer this alone and those that don't suffer it, or suffer it only mildly think that saying "Just do it" will help. Just do it, is not enough when you can't even see... I agree that listening is the best and wisest path for depression. Listen openly, not with prefabricated ideas of what you'll hear or see simply because the symptoms are wideknown. Each person's pain even if brought about by commonality, is still unique to that individual. Counseling with a skilled person who is adept at listening as well as a wonderful support group of friends and family full of love is what is needed. Sadly too many people are wrapped up in how they will look, what if they're wrong, what if someone else does it, blah blah blah. I belive that's what makes the online world so attractive to many is that blindly people can listen... More should follow suit and offer their love and their ears. It's a gift more priceless than anything else. Wel written, thought out and presented... I love the addition of a hotline... all in all EXCELLENT write
On a personal note, you are never alone.
I will be here even in words, for you anytime you or anyone needs. Have a beautiful day

Oh, Sg. I miss you so much... I think I have finally been able to release my pain through this by letting people know how to deal with people like me. I have some wonderful news. I am still quite giddy of this. I am married, for real, not just AP, but for real, I am married to Timmothy, (mindfulsilence) I need to IM you something, because there is also something bad, which I must tell you...I love you Big Brother!

Hey Evie....like I told you....I am here to listen to you....you know how to get in touch with me...you do not have to go through this alone...I'm here for you whenever you need me...

No, I wasn't aware that I put a semi colon there, lol. Yes many people including myself bang their wrists and heads on sharp objects and walls. Thank you for your critique, it was truly appreciated.

very well written. quite formal though. i am depressed, and i ut mysef. i have felt lots of the things that you have descriibed so well. my best friend killed herself a couple of months ago, and i nearly did too. my school never really mention suicide or cutting. most people who know (because some one saw and told everyone) think i do it for attention, so maybe more educATION woul help. but its a very sensitive issue, that can make people who it applies to uncomfortable. if they did it, theyd have to do it right, otherwise theyd really fuk everything up for lots of people, including me. its bad enough when we talk about cuts in science, let alone actual self harm.im going to see your other work nowxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxdead_freeky@hotmail.com

Overall I thought that this was very well written, I'm not sure if you were going for accurate grammer, so I'll mention a few things that stuck out to me.
"Teens should feel that teacher’s; councilors at schools, and parents at home are available to listen,--" I don't know the functions of semi-colons, but I'm not sure if you meant to put one after teachers, and I'm not sure if you meant to put an apostrophe.
"--sexual or physical abuse, or alcohol, and substance abuse, at school, ore at home." Ore, should be or.
Then that paragraph at the end was a little long, maybe that was just the site doing the spacing, but I would have double spaced at "Many teens also may have anxiety disorders, caused by depression, which in turn also--,"
And lastly, this is really more of a question, but this part, "Many teens that are depressed use self-mutilation to comfort them, such as banging their wrists or head against corners, sharp objects, or walls." Do they hit thier wrists on walls and sharp objects or do they cut their wrists and hit their heads. I don't know, I've never heard of people hitting their wrists before, but then again I am tired and I am thinking very slowly today.
That's about it, I really like the message you are trying to get across here. My school, they never shut up about suicide and cutting, and well, quite frankly, it just makes things worse for my friends and me that have encountered suicide quite a bit. I like what you did at the end adding the number in. Great Job, very well written, and I am going to book mark this.
