dead euphoria

She sat, staring out the window. Gray rain pelted the glass, creating tiny rainbows in the little drops. A sick giggle rose in her throat, and, in her hysteria, she fought to keep it down. A pale hand, clasped over a ruby mouth, was the only thing keeping her from insanity. As she silently shook with laughter, tears began to collect in her evergreen eyes, and her smile, to wide for long fingers to cover, was slowly growing. As she struggled with herself, she spun around on her bed, no longer facing the cold gray window, but instead the bright red box in front of her. Removing her hand, and surpressing the receding giggles, she picked it up, her long, slender fingers, tipped in black, fumbled with the lock. Shaking long brown hair out of her tear bright eyes, she readjusted her necklace, and finally the key clicked into place.1
