Friday came quicker then expected and it came with gloom. Victoria woke up that morning and looked out the window with tired eyes. The sky was smoky with the ever darkening clouds of a thunder storm. Victoria felt her heart was toiling like the storm outside, twisting and turning till lightning struck and thunder was heard. Victoria got out of bed and showered, but as she felt the warm droplets of water splashing on her skin and rolling down, her mind and heart darkened, clouding over her blindly. She grabbed her bag and told her mom that she needed to talk to a teacher about something. Her mother was very confused about Victoria’s early departure for school, but she didn’t dwell on it.1

Sheets of rain splintered as they hit the ground, making puddles, which combined to make lakes of water. Nick heard the pounding raindrops as he watched them roll down the window of the bus. He pressed his fingers to the glass and felt the warm moisture outside. His heart was heavy as the bus approached the school. A slight fog began to settle across the ground, giving the world an eerie feeling. When the bus stopped, Nick collected his things and went to go and wait for his ride at the front of the school. The dim lights of the street lamps penetrated the think rain and gathering fog. Nick sat facing the park across the road. There was no life, not even the birds that usually announced their presence with loud obnoxious squawking. In the lonely silence, all that could be heard was a lowly cricket trying to keep dry near by. Just then, there was movement from across the park. Nick strained his eyes to see, hoping it was a friend. The figure crossed the road and he could then tell it was a female. She entered the school and approached him cautiously until she was close enough for him to distinguish. He jumped up and ran to her with arms wide open. Victoria welcomed the embrace and Nick, feeling confident bent to kiss her neck.3
“I missed you.” He whispered warmly against her neck.4
“And I will miss you.” Nick lifted his head up just enough to pass her a look of confusion then continued to kiss her. Victoria brought his head up to hers for a passionate kiss, but then a sharp pain erupted from Nick’s abdomen. Nick took Victoria’s hand as he fell to the ground. His blood coated her hands and his, still warm and washing away with the rain. His pleading eyes looked up at her with fear and sadness. His lips moved soundlessly as his eyes closed. Nick felt himself spinning into thick darkness with bitter cold biting at his flesh. Just when Nick thought he was going to burn in hell, he woke up. 5
Nick looked out the window of the bus and saw the rain splash the dirt along the border of Arizona. It was all just a dream. Nick felt his heart race as his family superstitions took over. What if he was predicting the future? What if Victoria really wanted to kill him?6
‘She couldn’t want to kill me. She loves me… or does she?’ Nick looked next to him and saw Becca’s still form beside him. ‘What if?’7

Author notes
I don't quite know if this will be part of a full story or not, but just think of what could happen... Nick's superstitions could get the better of him and he could kill himself, or maybe Victoria really does want to kill him... or maybe everyone will live happily ever after... and who is this Becca girl? Do you think that Nick might be cheating on Victoria, and if he is, then will she ever find out? All good questions which you only have the answer for. What do you think happened?
What did you think? Please comment!
