"Finger one on E." Said my piano teacher.1
"E, then F, and G flat." I said content, I could just sense the pride 'ol teach confides in me. Being her star student and all.2
"Very good Tony, you're progressing very fast today." Amused at my enthusiasm. It always made Ms.Cita feel good when I got a new piece down pat. Resting my hands on my laps, I sighed. I took a look around the room. A giant harp in the corner of the stark white walls. Two red mahogany chairs resting against the left wall. Sunlight splashing into the room through two glass windows. A plant in another corner, a money tree I think? Strange name, guess the guy was high when he named this one. 3
Picking my hands back up and putting them on the keys, a
Yamaha upright acoustic piano, the best kind, better than Baldwin at least. "I have something to tell you Miss." Ms.Cita looked up at me from her writing, lifted her reading glasses perched up on her nose.4
"What is it Antony?" She raised an eyebrow.5
"Eh..." I stuttered out.6
"let me guess, you finally came up with why you joined my class?"7
Instantly an idea came over me, "Yeah, that's what I wanted to say."8
"I'm listening." She put down the notebook that held my piano notes and recommendations to hotels that could use a pianist.9
"Well, I just plain love the piano," She smiled,"The way it makes me feel every time I press down on a key, every time I clamp down on a chord. It just makes me feel good inside, just fills my belly up with butterflies. Gives me that feeling up and down my spine. The sound of every song filling my ears, the faithful nods of acceptance from my audience. I love it." I spurred out. Ms.Cita just stared at me.10
"Antony, that was just beautiful." The atmosphere of the room just brightened, until...11
"Tony! You there!? C'mon, the movie starts in five minutes!" A special someone yelled from outside the house.12
"What is that ruckus?" Ms.Cita asked me, ever so obviously irritated.13
"Oh, that's my boyfriend..." My plan worked perfectly, I didn't even have to say it. I grabbed my stuff, fixed my black jacket and brushed off my jeans, heading to the door. I had a smirk on my face, hers was a look of pure confusion.14
"Eh, wh-" I interrupted her.15
"Do you really think I was talking about the piano?" 16
I ran outside and hugged my guy, fourteen year olds having public displays of affection ain't bad, right?
We waled away hand in hand, I looked back at my teachers house and then back at Robby.17
"Perfect timing."18
"Thanks."
