Black Diamond (Part Two)

Dani led the stallion into the barn. She lead him into the wash stall. Instead of flipping out, walking into the dark, cave like room, he hesitated for a few steps but then simply walked right up into the room. She tied him to the pole, and patted him as she turned the light on and began to prepare the hose. The stallion say the green snake like looking thing and took a few steps back, and began to stomp when the water started pouring out. "Easy boy, it aint going to hurt you." Dani said. She took another step and patted the stallion. He calmed down, and Dani began to wash him off. Once he was clean, his black coat really shined. She washed off every ounce of dirt and mud, and spent an hour pulling out everything in his mane and tail. She dried his coat, and then carefully brushed through his long beautiful mane and full black tail. There was no doubt that this animal was drop dead gorgeous.1

He didn't seem like a threat. He was gentle and sweet, just misunderstood, like most things are. She untied his blue rope from the pole and slowly lead him out of the wash stall. She lead him down the isle to an empty stall right next to Magic's. She took off the halter and he walked inside, sniffing at Magic through the bars in between the stalls. He was a stallion, but he wasn't aggressive. Magic was a beautiful 14 year old mare. Another horse that Dani rescued. 3

Magic and Dani were as close as horse and human could get. The beautiful white solid paint was Dani's best friend. They did everything the could together. With Dani's rough past, she needed something solid like Magic's love, and the love of horses period.4

Dani gave him one last hug and patted him on the neck. He was squeaky clean now and his coat shone in the light that peered through the stall door. He was amazing, no doubt about it. And Dani couldn't wait to let him into her life. Dani finished the chores and fed the horses. The barn was silent as the horses ate away their hay and Dani said her goodbyes to Magic and the stallion and headed down the isle to the door. She pushed the button and the large garage door came down. She locked it and put on the security system, she shut and locked the door behind her. The rain had stopped but the mud was up to her ankles. She struggled at first but then walked to her truck. Her greyish colored 1985 Chevy long box was perfect for the mud, the problem was just getting to the truck in one piece. The sun was setting as Dani through her stuff in the passenger side made her way around to the driver's side door.5

She climbed up into the truck and sat for a moment, just thinking. She turned her head to take one last look at the barn, started up the engine, and with a load roar of the 350 Crate motor under that hood, she was off down the driveway. Mud flying everywhere.7

About a half hour later, she pulled into the drive way. She saw her dad peek out the window to see who was there. Dani leaned over for her bag, threw it over her shoulder and hopped outta the truck. She made her way up the driveway and into the house. 8

"Where have you been?" her dad called out. "Where do you think dad?" she answered. "Homework?" he said. "Did it at the barn. We got a new horse in daddy. Mustang and Frisian cross. He's so beautiful." she said as she walked into the living room where her dad was on the couch watching TV. "Be careful down there. I don't keep those animals around for you to kill yourself on." he said. "Yes, dad, I know." she said and walked up to her room. "Caylub called!" he yelled as she walked up the stairs. "Okay, thanks." That was weird, he never called the house phone. He usually just got ahold of her on her cell phone. 9

Dani pulled the grey razor phone out of her pocket and dialed his number. "Hello?" his funny voice said on the other line. "Hey Gorgeous, why'd you call the house?" "I tried calling your cell but it wouldn't ring, and you wouldn't answer, so I tried the house, but I figured you'd be at the barn." he said. "Oh, okay. What are you doing?" she asked. "Nothing just sitting in my apartment, bored like normal." he said, "You should come by and keep me company." "Oh, should I know?" she said playfully. "I'm going to take a shower and i'll be over in a bit." she said. "Okay, see you soon, Babe." he said and hung up the phone as she did.10

Dani showered, got dressed, and headed downstairs. "Going over to Caylub's. Don't wait up." she yelled. "Be careful Honey!" her dad yelled as she shut the door behind her. She pulled the truck into the garage, and parked it. Got out, and went to the back yard. She walked down the cement path to the garage in the back, opened the door and pushed the button, the moon light suddenly shone on her pride and joy, a gorgeous white 1986 Chevy Camaro. 11

She got into the beast, started the engine, backed out of the garage, and with a quick squeal of the tires, she was off. She arrived at Caylub's about five minutes later, since he only lived about 6 blocks away. She unlocked the door to his apartment and walked in, closing the door behind her. He was on the couch, in his normal shorts and no shirt. Transformers was on, and the old camaro just turned into the beautiful 2007 model. She put down her coat and sat down next to him. She put her head in his lap and look up to see his gorgeous brown eyes staring back at her. He smiled, which made her smile uncontrollably. She sat up in his lap and wrapped her arms around him as he embraced her with a warm hug. She pulled away and kissed him gently on the cheek. "I love you." he whispered. She smiled and kissed him again.13

Caylub Hayes was 19. Dani and him have known each other since she was 13. She was always attracted to him, and they were a thing for a while. But when he graduated at 18, he left that summer for basic training for the national guard, and promised that when he returned, that they would be together, and that he'd never let her go.14

They sat and finished the rest of the movie. "Are you staying tonight baby girl?" He said as he switched the channel on the TV. "If you want me to Hun." she said. He stood up, shut the TV off. And with one quick motion swooped her up in his arms and carried her to the bedroom. He lay her on the bed, and climbed in beside her. He took her in his arms and held her close. He broke the hug and set the alarm for 6:30. Then kissed her on the nose and took her into him again. In just moments they had fallen asleep.15
