Do you want to be? (ch 1)

K.C sighed as she made her way to another day of school, her saddlebag hitting her side as she walked. She looked towards the building that ruled most of her life and sighed again. ‘Another boring night followed by an even more boring day,’ she thought to herself. She spotted one of the other Goth guys walking to school on the other side of the sidewalk. Apparently he saw her too and jogged over to her. 1

“Hey K.C. What’s up,” The boy, Shawn, asked. 2

“Nothing really. Preparing myself for another day of pointless school.” 3

Shawn shook his head and then said, “Why do you put up with those preps talking about you like that? They have no right to judge you. You should make them shut their mouths. I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t open their mouths if they were missing a tooth or two!” 4

K.C shook her head. “Shawn, you know I cant do that. I have no right. I can’t just dish out punishment to them…” 5

Shawn scowled, “I know, I know. Little Christian girl doesn’t want to get into trouble.” 6

K.C glared at Shawn, “Shawn, I don’t make fun of you because of what you believe in so why don’t you just shut up about what I believe in?”7

Shawn looked at her for a moment longer then shrugged, “whatever. I just don’t see why you believe in that crap”8

“What do you believe Shawn?  That when we die we come back again? That we are stuck forever in darkness? No. That’s not what I believe. I have hope that there is some place for me after I die. And if that a problem then, to bad.”9

Shawn scowled again, “whatever. Lets just drop it ok? I’m done talking about this.”10

K.C nodded and glanced back to the school that was looming closer now. Stepping into the courtyard she glanced around. Spotting her friends she walked over and sat at the end of the table they were seated at. Her friend Jackie looked over at her. 11

“Yo, K.C. What’s up,” she asked, leaning over onto one hand to talk to her friend.12

“Same old stuff… What about you?”13

“Nothing really,” Jackie said, shrugging. “Dan and Katie were fighting a minuet ago. I think its stupid how much they fight and even worse how, when they make up, they go and start making out all over again.”14

K.C shook her head, knowing that it was a daily routine for those two to fight then make up and make out. She looked up and was about to say something to Jackie as her friend Ryan interrupted.15

“Hey, K.C. You’re a Christian right,” Ryan asked.16

K.C nodded at him, “Yea, you know that.”17

Ryan smiled and nodded his head, “Yeah, well, do you want to be?”18

K.C stopped and looked at him for a moment. Not sure how to respond. As she was going to respond the bell rang, interrupting her. Her friends, as usual, got up and scattered to their classes. K.C stood and walked to her first class, History. 19

You know..I myself happen to be catholic, and recently I've wondered if I truly feel catholic...if I really belong in this religion. Loss of faith and all that, and yet I have some guilt because my mom seems to feel much better believing in god, and praying for me to him...don't know why. Anyway, back to the story. She told Shawn she felt better thinking there was hope afterwards, so that means she does want to be christian...or that she merely NEEDS that hope...interesting thoughts here...love the story so far now.
