The last flame of the fire

Her conscience screamed for relief, as she felt again what has been her whole life. She starved for fresh air-for the sweet release that God above have forbidden her to ever taste. Harsh hands grasp her from behind and slam her savagely against a nearby wall. She stood there breathing heavily, feeling the over powering force of another against her fragile body. The pain that body inflected almost left her faint-and his eyes. Such evil lay in those pools of green ice, but as if mesmerized she couldn’t look away, she could never look away. Even as she felt the hatred that radiate from his eyes, she could never break contact. He used every thing to punish her, especially his fist, but nothing hurt as much as the vile words that jump out of his mouth to disable her of ever feeling like any other seven year old kid she knew in her life (which seemed never to be short enough.)
Still, the little child in her still ache for the father who never treated her as his baby girl, never mind human, but still… maybe…
“I’m- I’m sorry,” Mia sobbed helplessly in fright; she couldn’t help it- not with his hand wrapped tightly around her throat-threatening to cut off her air supply at any moment, “I – I – d…d…didn’t mean to-“
“Shut up” he replied striking a severe blow against her right cheek, the power of that punch left her scrunch on the floor breathing abrasively on the cold polish wood floor. ”You make me sick, get up!” he screamed agitated, when she didn’t move, he slammed his foot into her ribs causing her to release a startle groan.
“Get up you stink hoe” hatred laced his words as he stared scornfully down at her his faced a mask of uncontained anger. Brooke finally forced her shaking knees to obey his order, even thought she knew that would only gain more blows, but who could stop him? She was helpless to this pain.
She cringed as he stared down at her, hating how he made her feel like a worthless piece of garbage. “Didn’t I tell you not to bring food into the living room?” she could only stare at the floor in fear, not knowing what was going to occur. ”Look at me when I’m speaking to you!” he order twisting her chin roughly to face him, she grasp as she felt her muscles flex painfully, he smile seeming to love the pain that he undoubtly threw at her. Hot tears twinge out of her eye lids and down her red cheeks. She trembled, uncertain of her were her fate lay.
“Look what you did” he emphasize pointing to the dump of soggy wet milk-filled corn flakes on his rabbit fur carpet.
“I’m sorry, I promise I won’t do it again, I promise I –I –I –“
“Go clean it up” he said so calmly that it made Brooke wonder.
“O-okay I-I’ll go get the bro-“
“Theirs no need” with that he dragged her towards were the cereal was earlier dropped, and push her head so far in the cereal that she could feel the little soggy flakes go up her nose in through her throat.
”Eat it you filthy slut,” she was force to sallow the cereal and any thing else that was in it, when she couldn’t eat no more and what was already in her stomach came rushing back up, he forced her to eat that too. He lift her face from the now clean carpet to face his own, he give her a look of pure disgust. As if he couldn’t bear to see her bloody scar face, he stood up and threw her another hateful glance.
“You’re disgusting, get out of my sight” he stared at her for what felt like an eternity and then mustering a mouth full of spit, he threw it at her. She closed her eyes as waves of nauseates wash over her, she could feel the spit slid from her eyes and down her cheek. When she finally opened her eyes, she was alone.
“Mom…" she whispers ever so softly to the morning rays, the wind blew into the living room letting in the sounds of the out doors.
“Daddy does not love me, mommy help me, take me away.” Mia got on her knees begging and sobbing asking her mom for help.
“ What you yelling about? Huh, don’t you know you’re mother’s dead. She’s never coming back.” The father screamed; he walked over to where his child sat, got on his knees to face her. They looked into each other’s tear fill eyes and saw a reflection of themselves. They saw the hurt and the betrayal, not the elegantly decorated living room that surrounded them and their pain. He wiped away the tears, then hugged her tightly in his arms comforting her for al the time he ever hurted her. After several minutes he spoke softly in her ear. “She left us. I wake up each morning thinking she’s there next to me, but she’s not and the pain only grow every time I look at you. I can’t stand looking at you because I see her in you, Mia and I stand it. I can’t stand hurting you.” He gently push her away standing up to leave.
“Your auntie is coming tomorrow to pick you up, you’ll be living with her for now own. I want you to pack you’re bags, and get some rest.”
”Daddy,” Mia cried. “No.”
“That’s enough, now go to your room.”1
