“Come on, Come on, Move it!”1
I could see the conflagration towering behind me, racing with the bellow of a tsunami. The jumbled cries and shouts were lost in the rolling fire’s growl. I stumbled to the floor, I couldn’t think properly. Cries and shouts…of civilians…innocent…2
I saw my father, standing tall in his golden robes. I slowly walked up to greet him. “Hello father.”3
We were now both standing side by side, staring into the distance, surveying the vast sea we had always lived by.4
“Tigate,” he answered, “you must never be afraid. Though the tasks may seem trivial at first, you must realize there always lies greater danger. Remember that son.”5
“I will remember father.”6
“Remember you can always find comfort in Cerule, she has always provided for us, and I know she will again.” He spread his hand over the sea, “Cerule, this is Sagi, great provider of water and life, asking the remnance of my son.”7
The sea swirled unbelievably upwards. I remember being sprayed by the coolest mist imaginable, yet I did not get wet. I was empowered. I looked at my father.8
“Thank you, father. I will remember father.”9
“Remember, you now have the remnance. I have always waited for this moment.” He turned to look at me. It was exactly twice he has ever looked directly at me, and I was honored he chose to look at me again since my birth. He hesitated, “Now I am not so sure I am ready.”10
“You are surely as ready as the suns will rise and the zeroth shines, father.” He placed his hand on mine, transmitting images of my trial. I saw what he saw, and though a mere lighteon may have passed, the amount of images absorbed was gargantuan. My task was clear.11
“With the remnance, you must go back and right one wrong son. The task is not a difficult one. If you are to return with the remnance solid, you will have the honor of walking a Sagi.” He paused to smile, “are you ready Tigate? Are you ready to be Sagi? Is the task clear?”12
My answer was tentative, “Yes father.”13
“Remember the Cerule.”14
“I will remember father.”15
He nodded and began channeling his psi, undulating it in steady streams into the far ends of the universe and into the buoverse. A gateway opened, shimmering. My mind would be restrained to the most basic of its functions, restricting any psychic activity. I knew what I had to do. I had to walk through the gateway, and I would reappear into a world of the past. Approximately 13,500 years into the past. Final destination: year 2179.16
