CHAPTER SIX1
I couldn’t believe Kate had done that. Happy to take her life. I was in shock. I was devastated. I’d lost her for ever. I felt a few tears fall from my eye, and then I could slightly feel someone wiping them from my eye. “Don’t touch me you psycho. How can you kill my girlfriend like that? Do you really have no heart?”2
“Psycho? Girlfriend?” Kate’s baffled voice was like music to my ears.3
“Kate! You’re alive!” I was so relieved; I started to cry even more. But this time, it was tears of happiness.4
“Yeah, I couldn’t do it. I ducked at the last second. Sorry if I scared you. But what’s this about being your girlfriend?”5
“Err…nothing. I was just upset.”6
Kate laughed. “Awww, you really do love me don’t you?”7
I nodded, now extremely embarrassed, not thinking that she couldn’t see me.8
“I’ve had enough of you two” the man yelled again. “You just don’t seem to wanna die.”9
I grabbed a nearby object, which felt like a hub-cap, and just swung it towards the man. It hit him in the head, and he fell onto the steering wheel. A long, piercing screeching sound started and wouldn’t stop. The horn. I tried to push the man over, but he wouldn’t budge. He was too heavy.10
“Let’s get the hell out of here” Kate quickly said, before the man had a chance to wake up.11
“Wait, we need some money.” I reached into his pocket, and grabbed his wallet. “I know it’s wrong, but he did try to kill us.” 12
We climbed over the man, and out of the car, and ran for a couple of minutes, not looking back. Once we were safe, I opened the wallet to see how much money I’d taken.13
It was nearly empty. There were no notes in there, and only about half a dozen coins. It felt like less than three dollars worth. But there was something else in there. Something that really stood out, just by its shape. A badge.14
A police badge. I’d attacked a police officer. What sort of cops have rifles though? I was just thankful that he hadn’t seen us, although he did know our names. That is, if the blow to his head didn’t wipe his memory. Or even kill him. But my prints were on the hub-cap as well. He would have been able to find me if he really tried. 15
I didn’t tell Kate about the badge. I didn’t want to scare her even more. We just kept walking down the road until we found civilisation. We tried to find someone, which wasn’t too easy, and when we did, we asked the guy where we were. He said we were in the Gold Coast. We must have been driving with the cop for a couple of hours and now we had no way to get back to Brisbane.16
We walked down the street, no idea where we were going, just hoping to get to Brisbane eventually. A couple of drivers passed us, seemingly not bothered at all by the darkness. We tried to yell out to them, but none of them stopped. 17
A driver eventually heard us screaming, and he stopped near us. He opened the window. “Where are you guys headed?”18
“The post office. Could you give us a lift?” I replied.19
Kate started whispering in my ear. “His voice sounds familiar.” I noticed that too, but I couldn’t work out who it was.20
“Yeah, sure. Hop in.” Kate and I got into the car, and I asked who the driver was. “I’m Frank. Who are you?” We told him that it was us, and he was as shocked that he’d found us as we were that he was giving us another lift. He said he’d give us a lift, but that’d be as far as he’d go. He’d had enough of helping us out with this ordeal.21
Frank drove for at least an hour, and we arrived at the Post Office. “There’s no way I’m getting out of this car guys! But I’ll wait here for you.” Frank said, as he wished us well. We walked over to the door, and walked in.22
There seemed to be a little bit of light in the room. It was weird. I had no idea what was actually emitting the light, but was relieved that I could finally see where I was going for once. I could see that the light was coming out of a doorway, so I took Kate’s hand, and guided us both towards the door. We walked through, and could see even more clearly. We could see a desk, and a couple of people behind it. 23
“Stop right there!” one of the voices yelled. I quickly stopped walking, and so did Kate. At the same time, we both turned around, and ran back out of the post office.24
It was dark again, and we couldn’t see anything. I held onto Kate, so that we didn’t get lost, but it still wasn’t too easy, while running. We found a corner, and sat down, huddled up, hoping to lose the people guarding the office. 25
After sitting there for a minute or two, I could hear something from behind, and seconds later, I felt something on my shoulder. I let out a little shriek, before having my mouth covered by a cold, clammy hand.
Is this as good as the past chapters?

I love the suspense in your story! Poor things are really having to go through hell on their journey to get that light bulb back. Eeek that badge, wow that was some jerk of a cop that's for sure.
Makes me wonder about that light at the post office too. Can't wait to see more. Another awesome chapter
