Quickly moving into the shadows, Dom’s gaze never left the table and its occupants. So far, all they were doing was talking, and he hoped that when they left, it would be as one, not dividing up and making him chose who to follow. Spotting another Daimon chatting up another patron, he grimaced. 2
Pulling out his cell phone, and blindly dialing as he continued to stare, he bought it to his mouth. “Sabine? I need you at the nightclub from last night.” Closing the phone, he slipped it back in his pocket.3
Protect the innocent. Hide who you are. The basic Dark-Hunter rules came to the front as he contemplated what to do. Getting the Daimons away would be fairly easy, but it would be hard explaining it to Angie. 4
Over the next ten minutes, he divided his attention between the three at the table, and the one that was talking to the lone woman. He considered getting Eros and Psyche to help, but it would most likely bind him to them for another favor, and that was something he had no intention of ever doing again.5
His phone rang, the sounds of ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ filtering up from his pocket. Pulling it out, he stared for a brief moment as an idea started. “Yeah?” he said, answering it. 6
“I’m in the parking lot,” the voice belonging to Sabine replied. “Need me in or out?”7
“I think they’ll be running out real soon,” Dom said as he started to walk to the stage, and the DJ playing the heavy music. “Be ready for it.” Closing his phone, he pulled out a hundred dollar bill and held it up. “Got any Skynyrd?” 8
One of the things guaranteed to prompt any demon or immortal out of a building was the knowledge that Acheron Parthenopaeus was around. And the song most often played to alert patrons of his presence was “Sweet Home Alabama”. The song was so ingrained into brains that he doubted the Daimons would bother to think that this wasn’t a sanctuary, and that it was just a song. That was also the reason Dom used it as his cell phone ring tone…it was always amusing to see people run for the door when someone called him.9
Slipping back into the shadows, he waited as the song started, and smiled tightly as more than a few heads jerked and started looking around. The three Daimons at the table clambered to their feet without so much as an explanation and took off running for the door. Dom’s eyebrow rose when others followed, and he instantly recognized a few as Were-Hunters. 10
Making his way to the door to block the way if the Daimons suddenly remembered that they didn’t have to run, he quickly sprinted out of the bar as he caught the last view of Sabine as she trailed them. Since killing in a parking lot in front of a nightclub was a major no-no, she had let them get past her, and then took off in pursuit. 11
Pausing to watch them, he changed direction to run parallel with the group, trying to keep a respectable distance from Sabine so they wouldn’t drain each other’s powers. He was surprised that Sabine was catching up to the fleeing Daimons since she usually wore spiked heels that doubled as very dangerous weapons.12
By the time he caught up with the group, the Daimons were down by one, with another quickly joining his brethren in becoming golden dust. Sabine spun to stab a third, noticing him coming from the side, and nodded as she dispatched yet another vampire. 13
The fourth, knowing that he would be better running away to bite another day, took off so fast that he didn’t realize that his path would take him straight by Dom. By the time he recognized that there was a man standing in the shadows, the knife had already sunk deep into his chest, obliterating him.14
Giving Sabine a mock scowl, Dom approached. “You could have at least left me more than one,” he said. “I hate running like that for a pity kill.”15
“What can I say,” she nearly purred, “I’m a naughty, naughty lass.” 16
“That you are,” Dom agreed. “Well then. I’m going back to the nightclub, you can go back to whatever the hell it is you do when you’re not being naughty.”17
Sabine laughed, a rich tone that cut through the dark of the night. Turning away, she strode off, her heels clicking on the pavement, long brown hair flowing behind her. Not that he begrudged her the kills, he just hated it when he put all the exertion out, and basically got robbed of all the fun. Adrenaline was something that still affected him after all these years, and he loved the feel of the hunt and the end result when it was just him left standing. Giving one last look around to make sure there was no sign of the fight, Dom headed back to the nightclub.18
Along the way, Psyche’s words circled through his mind, weaving in and out as he walked. “You use is as a shield from the world and from admitting that you need someone in your life. You destroy because it’s less painful than letting someone into that small area that still exists that wants to love.”
She was right, and she was wrong. 19
Destroying was easy, and something he was amazingly good at. It took nothing but a lack of conscience to do that. Loving. Now there’s where the real hardship resided.20
He sighed, knowing that he had to keep his end of the agreement and give it a real try. Refusal would end up with him in a lot of pain, since Eros wasn’t the most understanding of beings. Hell, he wasn’t sure that any of the gods were the least bit understanding, especially when it came to promises elicited from humans. All he knew was that it would end very badly for him if he ignored the god.21
Making it back to the parking lot, he slowed when he saw a figure standing by his bike, and was about to approach when the person turned. 22
“I thought the bike looked familiar,” Angie said. 23
“Hey,” he said, unsure how to act, but positive he wanted to kick a certain Atlantean in the ass for making him promise to do this. 24
“Angie?!” a voice called from behind. “You coming?”25
Turning to her friends, she waved briefly. “Gimme a minute.”26
“If that’s all he takes, honey, then you’re wasting your time!”27
Ignoring the insult from her friend, Dom continued to stare at Angie. “What do you want from me?” he asked, his voice uncharacteristically soft.28
Angie returned his stare, surprised at his forwardness. In the years she had known him, he seemed a little too wrapped up in some inner secret that denied him outer contact beyond a casual association. “I just want to get to know you.” She glanced at the ground for a moment. “I want to see you smile.” She looked at him. “A real smile.”29
Through his heightened senses he could tell that she was tenser than she should have been at a time like this. “Why?”30
“You always look so sad,” she replied. “Like you’ve given up on life and are just going through the motions.”31
If only you knew how true that is. “Ang,” he sighed. “I can’t give you what you want.”32
“You can’t give me one day?”33
“No.”34
Angie blinked at the regret in the whispered reply. “One night?”35
A refusal was on his lips, then he stopped. His avoidance wasn’t going to help with his having to keep the favor he had to deliver. Staring at her, he could see the uncertainty grow in her features.36
“Angie!” her friend yelled, honking the horn as the car approached. “Come on!”37
Taking one last look at Dom, she turned. “Yeah.”38
The complete disappointment in her voice was the only thing that prompted him into action. “Ang?” he said, and waited until she turned back to him before holding the bike helmet out to her. 39
Her gaze went from the helmet, to his still features, then to her friends in the car. Smiling at them, she turned, took the helmet and walked to the bike, waving as the car drove off. 40
“Are you sure?” she asked him.41
“I’m not sure of anything these days,” he replied honestly. Slipping one leg over the bike, he pulled it upright and motioned for her to get on. His eyes opened wid as her arms wrapped around his waist, and then closed at the feel of her body as she leaned against his back. Okay, maybe this might be nice. 42
~~~~~~~~~~~~~43
Artemis, Greek Goddess of the Hunt sat in her opulent temple, surrounded by more riches and beauty than most had seen in a thousand lifetimes. Ignoring it all, she stared at her bed, frowning at the feelings she was experiencing. 44
Although Ash had always been one she had to harness each and every time he came to her, he had been different the last few times. Just going through the motions was something she didn’t want, and realized that part of the attraction to him had been his wiliness to fight her at each and every step.45
He had to have fallen for someone else, she was sure of it. There had to be no other explanation to why he wasn’t as energetic in bed as he used to be. Tapping a well manicured fingernail against her chin, she thought about who it might be that he was cheating on her with. 46
One name kept coming to the top of the list, and even though Ash had promised her that it was only a friendship, she knew that really had nothing to do with sex. Were-Huntresses were notorious for sleeping with anyone, regardless if there was an attraction there or not. 47
It had to be the reason Ash was vacant lately, and she had to put a stop to it. Killing an animal was nothing to her, being the goddess of the hunt and all, but she couldn’t do it herself. That would be one way to completely piss Ash off, and she wanted to be able to comfort him, not alienate him further.48
Reaching a decision, she flashed herself to a small corridor in a dim area of Mount Olympus. The Dolophoni resided here. Children of the Furies, and assassins of the gods, they were dangerous to those that didn’t know how to handle them. Artemis had used them more than a few times to get rid of problems that she didn’t want to bother Ash with, or have him know about. Once a Dolophoni was sent on a death hunt, the order couldn’t be taken back, so she had to make sure this was exactly what she wanted. 49
Remembering the faraway look in Ash’s eyes, she raised her hand and tapped on the door.50
~~~~~~~~~~~~51
Staring at the ceiling in the bedroom, Tria shifted in the bed, not wanting to wake the person with her. Ash had his arms around her protectively; his head resting on her chest, his breath tickling her skin with each exhale.52
Part of her felt the relief and relaxation that only Ash could give her, while another part felt slightly guilty. The idea that she enticed him to her bed so he would remember what it was like and vow to be with her had crossed her mind. She didn’t want for that to happen, yet she hoped it might. Closing her eyes in annoyance with the whole lot, she wished that everything could go back to the way it was before this all started.53
Her squire Trinity would still be alive, not having been targeted by Gallu to get at her, and she and Ash wouldn’t have been put into the compromising position they had been after Trinity’s death. Tria was certain that if it hadn’t happened then none of this ‘her being Ash’s saving grace’ would be happening either.54
And that guilty part was bothering her because she knew all the wishing was a lie, and that she liked being with the man that was holding her, and wanted to be with him until the universe exploded around them…Dark-Hunters, Greek Goddess, Were-Hunters, and even surfing gods be damned!55
Thinking of which, she wondered what Aiden would say about Ash’s little late night visit. The thought of telling her crossed Tria’s mind, but was rejected immediately as being slightly petty. The jealously she had regarding Ash and the Were-Huntress was more likely unfounded and something she really should forget about. She knew that Savitar and Aiden had something going on… hell, she’d seen them kissing more than a few times on the beach while she was on the island.56
Ash jerked out of his sleep, sitting up quickly and staring in confusion. “Hi,” he finally said. 57
“You okay?”58
“Yeah.” Running a hand over his face, he sighed. “Thought I was somewhere else for a moment.”59
“Really?”60
The tone in her voice put him on immediate guard. For a moment he had thought he was in Artemis’s bed, and the idea of holding her while he slept had both startled and disgusted him. “Thought I was in my usual bed,” he told her, giving enough of the truth so it wouldn’t be a lie. 61
“Oh.” Sitting up, she ran a hand along his chest. “Do you have to go?”62
He looked at her, weighing the consequences of what they had just done against the burden of the future. Slight shock registered through him when he realized that he didn’t really care of the price he might pay for being with her. 63
It was then that he got a glimpse of what might have been going through Savitar’s mind when he was faced with the possibility of doing something completely stupid over someone he cared for. So far, the surfer and Aiden managed to balance their relationship, so there was no real logical reason why Ash and Tria couldn’t. 64
Too bad the term ‘logical reason’ was virtually foreign in Ash’s world.65
~~~~~~~~~~~66
He’d never brought a woman home before, usually relying on her place or some other spot to perform, but Dom couldn’t do that to Angie. If he was going to give a relationship with her a try, he had to have home court advantage.67
Standing in the middle of his living room, he watched Angie as she tried to make it look like she wasn’t gaping at her surroundings. It was richly lavish, with just enough modesty thrown in to show that the owner was wealthy, but not into bragging about it. Walking to the display case, she picked up one of the dragon figurines to look at it, then placed it back where it had been.68
Dom exhaled faintly in relief, since a squire had given that specific figurine to him nearly three hundred years previous when he was stationed in Japan. He smiled slightly when she picked up a dark-hunter.com coffee mug and turned to him.69
“Rather eclectic collection you have.”70
He shrugged. “Man’s gotta have a hobby.”71
Putting the mug down, she approached him slowly. “Got any other hobbies?”72
His groin moved at the tone in her voice, and the innuendo in it. His gaze settled on her lips, and he wanted nothing more than to feel them on his. That surprised him, since most Dark-Hunters didn’t like to kiss someone that didn’t know their secret because of the possibility of a tongue caressing a fang. That was better than being doused with cold water to kill the mood.73
There were always ways of working around it, but none that he wanted to employ with her. Sex from behind would definitely cut down on the kissing, but he wanted to be able to look into her face. Wondering just why he thought of that, Dom raised a hand and gently ran it along her cheek.74
“Do you ever take the sunglasses off?” Reaching up, she put her hands on either side of the frames, pausing when he flinched slightly. Gently pulling the dark glasses off his face, she watched as he blinked a few times. “Do lights really hurt your eyes, or do you use that as an excuse to shield yourself from people?”75
Normally, he would have been pissed off at that type of question, but the genuine curiosity in her voice soothed the anger before it could even start. “Lights hurt,” he said, remembering Craig’s explanation to Melissa. “They have for years.”76
“Even sunlight?”77
“Sunlight is a real killer for me,” he said honestly. “I can’t go out in it. At all.”78
“Really?” Bringing a hand up, she gently traced the scar that ran from the side of his eye to just above his ear. This time, instead of flinching, he took a step back. “Sorry.”79
“Not your fault,” he said, giving a small smile. Damn, but this was hard for him. Usually, it was an anonymous face that he had no intention of ever seeing again, not a woman he’d been acquainted with for the past few years. 80
“Care to see the bedroom?” he whispered.81
~~~~~~~~~~~~~82
Standing in a small clearing just to the left of the building, the Dolophoni male cast an expert eye over the area. The target in question lived on the top floor, and he smiled slightly at how easy it would be to get in, kill her and get out. Closing his eyes, he envisioned himself on the patio, then frowned when he remained where he was. Trying again, he looked around in confusion when his phasing abilities failed him. 83
Running fingers through his short black hair, and realizing that Acheron had more than likely placed a protective area around the building, he stepped back into the shadows to think. That held the possibility that Ash himself might be on the premise, and feeling out, he was able to detect the distinct impression that the man seemed to give off. 84
Getting the Huntress in the daytime would be possible, although the cover of night was preferable. The idea of the Atlantean being around put a bit of a damper on things, since there would be no way he’d allow her to be killed, and here was no way the Dolophoni had any intention of taking Ash on. There was no fear of what would happen, except for that he’d never hear the end of it from Artemis, and an ounce of prevention was better than an eternity of listening to the goddess bitch. 85
Maybe the Were-Huntress would be kind enough to go for a late night flight. Then he would be able to bring her from the sky, destroy her, and be back on Mount Olympus in time for breakfast.86
A quick meal…then reporting to Miss Cranky-Pants herself. He sighed at the sudden interest Artemis had in employing his kind for her dirty work. Most times, she summoned her pet Acheron for a few deeds, but since this little activity dealt with him, she needed someone else. The Dolophoni had no problems in making an enemy out of the Head Dark-Hunter. He was nothing more than a puppet on Artemis’ sneaky little string.87
Getting tired of standing around in the breezy night air, the demi-god decided to search out some cold beer and a hot chick, then come back in the morning to finish off his quarry.88
~~~~~~~~~~~~89
The bed seemed a little too small as Dom sat on the edge of it, slowly removing clothes from Angie as she sat beside him. He felt nervous for the first time in ages, and tried not to let it show, but laughed slightly as one of the buttons on her blouse refused to come undone. 90
“The hell with it,” he whispered, grabbing the bottom of the material and gently easing it over her head. “Much better.”91
Angie laughed softly, hardly able to believe that she was actually sitting on Dom’s bed, about to get rather physical with him. After the years of hints and coming right out to say it, she had resigned herself to the fact that it probably wasn’t meant to be. Not sure what changed his mind, and not really caring at the moment, she reached up to undo the buttons on his own shirt. 92
Suddenly remembering his scars, Dom tried not to draw back as she worked her way down his front. As the shirt came of, he hoped that the room was dark enough so she wouldn’t be able to see them all. 93
Angie held back a whistle as she looked at his bare chest. Well-defined muscles were everywhere, and she tilted her head when she noticed that he had a few tattoos. Surprised that he had them, she raised a finger to trace across the Cerberus tattoo on his right shoulder, then trailed over to the snake that wrapped around his left arm. Leaning back, her eyes lowered.94
So entranced with the feel of her fingers on him, Dom forgot about the rest. He heard her gasp at the sight of the scars, and knew that he’d have to explain. 95
“What happened?” she whispered as her hands ran over various knife and bullet wounds.96
“Life,” he whispered back, taking her hand in his and raising it to his lips. Kissing the palm, he paused long enough to look at her, then lowered her to the bed. Staring down at her, he gently ran his fingers along her cheek, down her neck to her chest, using hardly any pressure so she would only feel the faintest of touch. 97
Moving slightly under his feather caress, Angie’s hand slid over to brush against his leg, the touch searing him through the leather pants he was still wearing. His own touch continued down until he reached the top of her jeans. 98
“Chance to back out,” he whispered to her, his gaze decidedly below her beltline. 99
“Not after I finally got you here,” she said in a low voice. He smiled slightly, turning from her, giving her a magnificent view of his muscled back. Three more tattoos decorated his skin, from an intensely evil looking devil, to a row of Japanese words, and a small design consisting of two bows together with one arrow just below the center of his neck.100
Sighing as she felt her jeans being removed, then her bikini briefs...followed by the unbelievable sensation of the leather from his pants sliding along her outer thigh as his hand slid along the inner area.101
“Aren’t you going to get undressed?” she asked, moving slightly as his hand touched the right spot. 102
“Eventually,” he said, giving her a wink. Lowering his head to hers, he kissed her lightly, then pulled back. “Mmmm,” he sighed in contentment. It had been the first kiss ever between them, and he wanted just a sample before diving in.103
Angie squirmed slightly as his fingers continued their journey on her body, and licked her lips in anticipation for what was to follow the extremely sweet and enticing kiss he had just given. Her lips opened slightly as he bent forward again, and she couldn’t help but moan as the kiss deepened, caressing her in a way that drove all reason from her mind.104
~~~~~~~~~~105
“Remind me again what we’re doing out here at the butt-crack of dawn,” Aiden said as she jogged beside Tria. 106
Looking around the nearly deserted park, Tria smiled slightly. “Jogging at dawn used to be one of my favorite things in my …previous life. Just wanted to see if it still held any appeal.”107
“And does it?”108
“Not really,” Tria admitted, slowing, then stopping. Placing her hands on her knees, she bent over to breathe. 109
“There’s something you don’t see every day,” Aiden commented. “An out of shape immortal.”110
“You’re funny, eagle,” Tria said. “No, I mean it, really.” Straightening, she sighed. “I could use some chocolate.”111
“I could too, but I don’t feel like tempting fate today.” Leaning in close, Aiden smirked. “They tend to be kind of bitchy towards me,” she whispered conspiratorially. 112
“You’re strange.”113
“Thank you for noticing.” They started to walk back towards the entrance of the park. “Were’s are allergic to chocolate,” she said. “Deathly allergic, in some cases.”114
“That…would completely and totally suck.”115
Aiden shrugged. “So… how was the visit?”116
Tria stopped walking. “What?”117
Rolling her eyes, Aiden paused, then continued on her journey. “Visit. In the wee hours of the morning. With a tall Goth biker type immortal.”118
“How-?”119
“Empathic, remember?” she said as Tria’s pace brought her slightly ahead of the pair.120
“You forgot annoying and nosey,” Tria pointed out. “It was good. I think we got some issues out of the way, and he’s going to make a decision one of these centuries.”121
“Welcome to immortality,” Aiden said. “Where everything’s an eventuality.” Pausing as she heard a rustling coming from the bushes, she was about to call out a warning to Tria when something sped out at her.122
Tria turned at Aiden’s gasp, taking an instinctive step back before she’d even focused on the source of trouble. All her former Dark-Hunter training kicked in as she raised a hand, not really knowing if she still had her fire or not, but praying that she had. 123
The man holding Aiden jerked as a ball of fire flew close enough to his head to singe hair. That gave Aiden enough leverage to break free. Instead of running, she turned, pushing out with the heel of her hand, and landing a well place hit to the solar plexus, adding her Were powers to it to push the man across the grass. 124
Recovering quickly, he glared, then stopped as a mark appeared on the woman’s face. It was the sign of Savitar, and it placed her under his protection. Not that it mattered. He had his orders and once given, had to be followed through on. 125
He’d taken less than two steps forward when the air between them shimmered for a brief moment. It quickly materialized into Savitar, then shimmered again as the man and the surfer vanished. 126
Aiden stared at the spot, then looked at Tria. Noticing that there were a few people stopping and staring, she grabbed Tria by the arm and started running. 127
“What happened?” Tria asked.128
“Less talk, more run,” Aiden said, needing to put distance between them and anyone that had witnessed the exchange. Keeping the Were secret outweighed any and all other concerns, and once they got far enough away Aiden pulled Tria into a small alcove, teleporting both back to her condo.
As soon as she materialized, she pulled her cell out and made a call. “Come on,” she muttered as it rang, cursing as it went through to call answer. “Gaaaaa.” Ash! Come on. It’s important. 129
What? he replied in her mind.130
I think Savitar went to Olympus. At no response, she tried to reach him again, but could not. 131
~~~~~~~~~~~~~132
Ash appeared just outside Artemis’ opulent temple, opened the golden door with just a thought, and walked in. Before him stood the one thing he would have thought he’d never see in his lifetime. 133
Artemis sat on her throne, her features tight, while a being lay on the floor in front of her. He was struggling to get up, but the weight of a foot on his back kept him down. Savitar stood, front and center, foot on the man on the floor, and glaring at Artemis. The sight of the god in his beach pants and open shirt looked so out of place that Ash had to force himself from commenting on it.134
“Glad you could make it,” Savitar said, not turning around. “I trust you’ll hold off on blasting me until I’m done talking?”135
“Just talking?” Ash said, his voice heavy with warning.136
“Trust me, little brother,” Savitar said. “If I wanted her dead, it’d be done already.” 137
“This is unacceptable,” Artemis said, gaining her bravado back now that Ash was with her. “Get rid of him.”138
Savitar arched his eyebrow and merely stared. “Oh, I’ll be gone soon enough, sweet-cheeks. But, before I go, would you like to tell Acheron why I’m standing in your temple, holding down a pathetic piece of Dolophoni?” 139
The Dolophoni were dangerous to those that didn’t know how to handle them, although, at the moment, it looked like Savitar had a good ‘handle’ on the being. Ash’s eyes tracked from his old mentor, to the Dolophoni on the floor, then to Artemis, his dread growing with each second. “I’d like to hear this.”140
Artemis sighed in annoyance, then looked the other direction. “Go away, all of you.”141
“She,” Savitar answered instead, “sent this,” he paused to add more weight to his stance, pushing down on the back, “after Aiden. He attacked her while she was with her friend.” He stopped at the look on Ash’s face. “Her human friend.”142
“Artie?” Ash asked, trying to remain calm. She ignored him.143
“Not only did she risk exposing the Were’s to the public, since shit for brains here attacked them in a park, but she put Aiden’s life at risk.” Anger crossed Savitar’s face as his eyes changed to a deep red. “And I’m not sure which one pisses me off more, but damn it, if either happens again-“144
“Don’t threaten her,” Ash said, not really knowing why he was mad at him and not Artemis. “Unless you want to face me in my true form.”145
Savitar’s features grew so still that Ash felt an unexpected and totally foreign prickle of fear. Like him, the surfer had a ‘true form’ that was hidden beneath his human appearance. Ash had never seen it, had no idea what it was, and suddenly hoped he never did. 146
Forcing himself from the explosion that wanted to happen, Savitar shoved the anger deep down where he could deal with it later. His eyes flashed to white, the sign that his own demon wanted to taste blood, but he forced that part back, too. He had arrived at the temple, fully intending on killing the goddess outright. Deciding against that had been one of the hardest thing he’d ever done, but he could see the logic in it. 147
If she died, so did the world. If the world died, then Aiden died. That thought was enough to quell the original plan. But, if Acheron wanted to stick up for the bitch and take him on, then he would be more than willing to oblige. 148
Sensing the slightly quickening in Ash’s pulse, a shadow detached from his arm, hovered in front of him for a second, then materialized into Simi. 149
Taking in the entire view instantly, she turned to Ash. “What’s going on?”150
“He threatened me!” Artemis said as she pointed a well-manicured nail at Savitar. Since the brat would do anything for Ash, Artemis was willing to use the Charonte as protection.151
“He dids?” Simi asked in awe as she watched Savitar and Ash trade stares. “Okay then.” Folding her legs, she plopped onto the marble floor.152
“Aren’t you going to do anything?” Artemis demanded.153
“Yes. The Simi is going to watch.”154
Finally wrestling the anger under some sort of control, Savitar spoke. “You’re not getting what I’m saying, Atlantean. This thing attacked Aiden and her human friend. The same friend that is staying with her.”155
Ash jerked slightly as he finally understood. Keeping thoughts of Tria out of his mind, he turned to Artemis. “You’re suppose to protect humans, not send things after them.”156
“It’s just one human,” she said. “I can make more.” She glared at Savitar. “Don’t ever threaten me again.”157
The being below Savitar screamed in pain, then vanished. “I do what I want, when I want, and to whom I want.” He looked from her to Ash, then back.158
“Are yous going to kill her or nots?” Simi asked from the floor.159
“Simi!” Ash admonished. “Return to me.”160
Rolling her eyes with a pout, Simi changed back into a shadow and returned to Ash’s arm.161
“Don’t fucking piss me off again, bitch,” Savitar warned in a deceptively calm voice, then vanished. 162
Ash stared at the spot for a moment, then looked at Artemis. “You’re going to tell me exactly what you were trying to do by sending someone after Aiden, and I’m going to listen. Then, I’m going to tell you, in no uncertain term why you should never do anything like it again.”163
“Would it kill you, just once, to be on my side?” Artemis shot.164
“It probably would,” Ash replied.165
They get together! Yessssssssssssss! Boo-yeah! Nicely done, and believable.
I do believe that Savitar is slightly pissed off at Artie-baby. He needs to chill a bit, maybe surf and accidently do a hit and run with the board upside her head.
The Simi bit.. too funny. Love the last line!
Hilarious
That was amazing.
"The Simi is going to watch."
Rofl!!! So awesome. Too bad Ash couldn't say "Yes Simi he can kill the heifer-goddess."
Thanks!
I've been looking for a way to work the dolophoni's in, and this seemed like a good time.
Pointing out grammatical errors is always appreciated. Sometimes I read it so much that I miss the littlest thing.
