Prologue - The Age of Tears

1

In the first ages of the world, when the land of Fane was in its first flush of spring, and Earth was at its dawn, the Gods walked among men, and it was possible to travel between worlds as easily as walking through a door.  Gods bred with humans and Fane mixed their blood with that of Earthly men. It was Fane who taught the first Earthly men how to build, harness their powers and become great.  Great cities and kingdoms were built and every creature out of myth and legend was real.2

3

Men grew greedy, they could no longer live side by side with the Gods, they wanted their powers for their own, and they tried to enslave all those unearthly creatures unto themselves.  So began wars that raged for centuries.  The Gods retreated and all that was legend was banished, or fled from the realms of Earth and Fane. The doors between worlds were sealed shut and the creatures of myth that were trapped on Earth faded into shadow until they were nothing more than fairy tales.4

5

The line of men who were the seed of the alliance between Earth and Fane dwindled until just one was left.  Reuben Randor, born of man, descended from Gods, with the blood of Fane running through his veins.6

7

In Fane’s Golden Age, Queen Maeve of Maljor took Reuben as her consort and bore him children.  Fane thrived and all was peace until Reuben, like those before him, became curious of his godly ancestry.  He grew greedy for power and lusted to be like those Gods who were his unearthly fathers.  He unleashed his powers and awakened the evils of Fane, long since sleeping.8

9

Spun from a web of woe and despair, the Auron consumed Reuben, devouring his soul and turning him into a thing of power and destruction.  Under Reuben’s hand, cities burned, women and children were murdered, and all was chaos. Once again Fane was brought to war.10

11

On the eve of the birth of his youngest child, Reuben ripped open the doors between the worlds, and made ready to pour hate and despair down upon them.  His new-born child was a girl, one who would inherit Maeve’s place as queen, and with it, all her powers.  Fearing for her daughter’s safety, Maeve sent her away in secret to Earth where she would be safe.  12

13

As Maeve fought her consort for the safety of Fane, the child was sent through the doors, to be brought up in safety, free from Reuben’s search and kept innocent of her lineage.14

15

Maeve banished the Auron, defeated Reuben, but in doing so brought about her own death. Once more Fane retreated, closed the doors and began to rebuild their world. So passed The Age of Tears.16

17

Peace fell on Fane for a thousand years until the Auron returned and Reuben Randor’s presence was once more felt in the land. Then began the long search for Maeve’s daughter, living in innocence, now in her twentieth year, and newly come of age.18

19

So began The Age of Deliverance.20
