Love of Water

1

Day and night, she waited. She dreamed of the day when her wait would end. The day she would be able to hold her loving husband in her hands once more. She would stare out of the window, into the never-ending sea. The sea that took her husband, her whole life, away from her. She would sing songs of happiness, even though inside her heart was breaking, falling apart.
2

Years and years went by, and she was still lonely. No one to love her and no one for her to love. She wondered where he could be. Why did he have to leave her? Every day she would walk up the hill and stare into the beautiful, pure lake. The one where they shared their first kiss. The lake brought a smile to her face. It was the only place where she could clearly remember her husband's face, his smile, his eyes. It was all to good to be true. She could see him perfectly right across from her, sitting beneath the tree where they had sat so many years ago. The tree where they carved "Julie and Mike 4ever". 3

They had gotten married so young. Julie, only 18 and Mike, 20. They were deeply in love and had hopes of having children. " My dream is to have twins" she would say to Mike, with a big smile on her face. " Don't worry I will make us have twins if its the last thing I do! I will always make you happy." Mike would always reply with an answer so honest, Julie knew she could trust him to make her dream come true. 4

One day, Julie became awfully ill. Her body would ache all over. Her head would hurt and she could barley speak. The fever would rise every five minutes. Mike knew he had to do something quick, for if he didn't he would lose the woman he loved. There was no doctor in town and the other nearest town was two days away. Mike knew Julie could not wait that long. He read through books and books of healing plants until he found the right one.
5

Then, in the middle of the night he found it. The Richodious Flerolium, a plant that would cure fever and body ache. It was the perfect one. He ran to the room to tell his wife. What he saw in the room his wife was in, left him speechless. She was crying. Julie never cried, not even when her mother died. Julie felt this was a sign of weakness. When Mike saw this he ran out of the door and to the edge of the dock. Under the sea, was the only place where the Richodious Flerolium grew. Mike didn't think twice. He jumped into the water head first. The water made a huge splash as he entered. All the way at the bottom, Mike found the plant. He swam up as fast as he could. He had the plant, now he had to save her life.6

He ran to his wife's room and rubbed the plant on her chest. Hours later, she regained her strength. She was cured. She still cried, but these were tears of happiness. That is, until she saw what lied on the floor next to her. It was a note, written by Mike. It read: Julie, I hope you feel better. I must go into the nearest city to get medicine for myself. I am bleeding, I cut myself on the dock getting your plant. Do not feel guilty. I will be back as soon as I can. I love you now and always. Mike. 7

Julie waited and waited and no sign of Mike. After all the long and lonely years that passed by, at age 25 she got the news that Mike was found dead in the woods. She cried for many days. Then on their anniversary, she ran up the hill and stared at the lake where they had so many memories. She had no doubt in her mind. She jumped in and never surfaced again. The souls of the two lovers met in heaven and were never separated again. 8

I enjoyed reading this piece, and I was a little shocked to hear she had fallen ill. The only advice I can give you for this story, is to put maybe a bit more description and imagery into it. It was good, yes, but if you just edited it a litt,e it would be a brilliant story

Any way, thanks for entering my contest, and good luck

    Good story

I think adding more detail descriptions of what Mike and Julie looked like would add to the story. Also, adding where and what time period might make it more vivid. Nice writing.
