"Get up now!" a German officer yelled grabbing a little girl from the floor and handing her to another officer. She wondered what she had done wrong. Her mother and father were being loaded into the back of a truck with a lot of other people. Why did they have to leave their home? Why did other people want to be mean to her family and make them move. She climbed up on her mama's lap and asked,"why?" Her mama said , Because we are Jews." She looked at her mother in shock and thought,'Why did it matter weather they were Jews or not.' She didn't understand. 'Why would anyone care if you were Jewish or any other race.' She looked just like everyone else around her. She spoke the same and did everything the same as every one. Why did they care about yo being a Jew or not. What was the difference between a Jew or a German. Was being a Jew a crime?' She looked up at her mama and asked,"Where are we going mama?" She looked down at her daughter and said ,"I don't know Anna. Now be quiet." Anna turned around and looked for the last time at her house. Then the truck started moving. She didn't take her eyes off the house until it was out of sight. A million questions went through her head but it all came back to Why.
