Merry Christmas! Feliz Navidad! said the lemon tree, way down south(1) and down dropped a lemon on Paco Apodaca's wee lil noggin. He paused and looked down on the ground, realizing he'd been beaned by a ripe lemon. Or was it an almost ripe lemon? 1

He peeled it and found it to be the best lemon he had ever tasted in his thirteen years of life on this good earth. What to do, what to do? He thought long and hard, hardly. Just joking. He really knew what to do, so Paco got steppin'.2

He looked about, and saw other lemons ripening on the ground. So he gathered as many lemons as he could hold in his jacket, and went back to grandmother's house, where he and his cousins who were also visiting made lemonade.3

That, mi amigo, is a story for you. How would you make this story better if you wanted to do so? If life gives you limones, make limonada.

    I was looking for a story for my 9 year old granddaughter to read. She needs to practice reading Spanish.
    Although we live in Puerto Rico and she was born here, she moved to Virginia, U.S.A. for a year when she was just beginning to learn to read Spanish. So she learned to speak and read English and forgot how to read in Spanish. I don't get it! Spanish is so easy! There are only 5 vowel sounds and it is read just as it is written! Asi; que comenzamos otra vez con la cartilla fonetica y estamos tratando de hacer limonada... So I'm going to translate your story into Spanish and give it to her to read. I hope you don't mind.
