The tears slid down her cheek
The razor across her skin
The relief pours out
But the pain stays within1
She puts on a brave face
For the whole world to see
Inside she trembles, says
"I see the real me"2
She throws on an armband
To cover her pain
Consciously she hides it
The source of her shame3
The extent of the damage
Very rarely known
The scars that haunt her
Are never, ever shown4
Quietly she's weeping
Alone in her bed
Feeling so sorry
And wishing she were dead5
This girl I understand
This girl I cry for
This girl so beautiful
This girl I'd die for6
