Fire and Ice Chapter 3

When Lora opened her eyes, she was not where she was when she closed them. She struggled to sit up straight. Every time she moved her body responded by shooting a spear of fire trough her veins. She decided to lay still. She looked around the room. She was lying in a makeshift bed of leaves and mos. 1

There where no windows in the room, only one door. The only light was a candle flickering on a table next to her. Suddenly he door opened and a strange figure entered the room. Lora forgot of the pain for a moment, as she jumped into the corner of the bed. She groaned from the pain catching up with her as she hit the wall.2

“It is best if you just keep still deary” A woman's voice said softly.3

The figure moved closer to the light and Lora's eyes, still adjusting to the lighting, allowed her to make out the silhouette of a woman. The woman sat down on the bed near Lora. She could see the woman's face now. She was old. Her hair was white as snow and she had deep wrinkles on her chin.4

“How are you feeling?” The old lady asked kindly.5

“Like I am on fire,” Lora replied “Where am I? Who are you? Where is Amo...”6

Lora's eyes filled with tears. It was all coming back. The attack. Her holding Amo's body...
The woman moved closer and placed her hand on Lora's cheek “It's going to be ok”7

The woman gave Lora something to drink. It tasted bitter and Lora nearly became sick, but the woman said it would help for the pain. She also cave Lora some clean clothes and a wet towel. She told Lora to join her outside when she had cleaned herself up.8

Lora washed and dressed. She made her way outside and had to squint to shield her eyes from the bright morning sunlight. “I must have slept through the night” she thought to herself. She was also amazed at how fast the medicine the old woman had give her worked, she felt no pain.9

“Over here deary!” Lora turned to see the old woman sitting underneath a tree with a couple of other people she has never seen before. Lora could tell she was still in the forest but she has never been in this part of the forest before. The trees seemed to be more lush here. Lora made her way to the group of people. She could see them clearly now. There was the old lady, a young woman, about Lora's age. A very young girl and an very attractive young man. They all stared at her as she joined them. She sat down on the forest floor.10

“Every one, this is Lora' The old woman announced.11

“How did you know my name?” Lora asked surprised.12

The old woman smiled. “Oh, I know a lot about you. Make yourself comfortable, we are going to have a long talk.”13
