Fire and ice Chapter 2

Lora and Amo arrived at their usual spot next to Pichum river, not far from the waterfall. Pichum river was famous for it's beauty and the magnificent cliff that gave birth to a powerful waterfall. Amo removed her shoes and dipped her feet in the crisp clear water of the stream. Lora joined her. As Lora's feet entered the water, her skin covered with goosebumps. The cool water was a welcome escape from the scorching sun. The two women sat on the bank of the river chatting about life, laughing and just passing the time.
Lora loved coming here with Amo, it was her escape...1

There conversation about war was suddenly interrupted when Amo suddenly jumped to her feet. 2

“What is the matter?” Lora asked.3

“Shhh!, be quiet,” Amo whispered “ I hear something.”4

Lora listened, but the forest was lush and all she could here was a gentle breeze whisking through the trees. She was just about to ask Amo what she was on about when a group of men appeared from behind the trees. Lora rose to her feet. 5

“Can we help you?” Amo asked the group of bandits.6

Lora was already making her way towards Shatan to get her sword from his saddle.7

“Yes,” the man smirked “we will be taking your horses” he hissed.8

Lora was frightened, but instead of her body becoming cold as usual, she felt as if her flesh was on fire. This was very unusual but Lora didn't really care at this moment.9

“Oh no, I don't think so” Amo said bravely10

Then the men jumped on Lora, knocking her over and pinning her to the ground. Amo jumped for her sword and reached it just in time. Amo was the best sword fighter in all of Adelin. “These guys don't know what they are in for” Lora thought. 11

Lora struggled, trying to free herself from the two men's grip. But the more she struggled the more they kept putting their weight on her. Lora could feel her flesh growing hotter. 12

Amo fought brilliantly and bravely. She quikly drove most of the bandits off. Lora was still being pinned to the ground by the two men. One of the men got on top of Lora and started unbuttoning her blouse. Lora let out a scream as she thought against the power of the two men.13

Amo turned to see where her friend was. She just let go of her focus for one second when Amo felt a surge of intens pain shoot through her body. 14

Lora could have sworn time froze when she saw the man drive his sword through Amo's body. Lora lost herself. Her body was on fire and in a spontaneous burst of flame Lora thought the two men off her. She was furious, intangible. Everything she touched caught flame. Then she blacked out.15

When Lora came to, she was leaning over Amo. Tears where streaming down there faces. It took a few moments for Lora to orientate herself. She looked around, the bandits had left and the sun was setting. Lora alo noticed tat some of the ground around them had been scorched.16

“Lora...” Amo forced out her friend's name 17

Lora took Amo's shaking body in her arms.
“Amo, I am going to get hel...” Lora couldn't finish her sentence. Amo couldn't hear her anymore. 18

Lora put Amo's body on the ground. Emotion overwhelmed her and she fell on her friends corps and cried herself to sleep.19
