The Mysterious Light - Chapter 3

CHAPTER THREE – FLIGHT FROM HELL1

“So who needed a bloody flight?” an angry voice came from across the room. Kate was shocked by his surprise entrance, and jumped a little, then pulled back from the kiss. She ran over to the pilot, and whispered in his ear the whole situation.2

He approached me, and tapped on my shoulder. “My name’s Frank. I will fly you to Brisbane. But hurry up. I don’t have all day!” It was obvious that he didn’t really want to be there.3

“Thank you so much for this.” I think I thanked him another dozen times as we made our way to the plane. We reached the plane. Only a small one. A private jet by the looks of it. Frank and I started to head up the steps to board the plane and I noticed Kate just staying down the bottom. I asked her if she wanted to come with us, but she said that she had to watch the front desk.4

A couple of minutes later, as Frank was turning on the plane, I looked out the window, seeing only black, but I could vaguely see a streak of white. It was getting closer to the plane. I couldn’t work out what it was though. 5

It disappeared pretty quickly. But then there was a banging on the plane. It was the door. I got up, and struggled to open the door, and seeing Kate on the other side when it finally opened.6

“Screw the customers. There are none. And I’ve always wanted to go to Queensland. I’m coming with you.” She seemed a little too hyper-active as she said that, but I couldn’t really complain. I had really wanted her to come.7

Franks voice boomed over the PA system. “Ok, we’re leaving now. Buckle up.” Kate jumped again. He really had a knack for scaring the poor girl. Although in his defence, he didn’t know that she was here. He didn’t know the door was open either. 8

The plane started speeding down the runway. Kate and I still hadn’t made it to a seat yet, and the door was still wide open. The wheels lifted off of the ground. Before we knew it, we were airborne. It was hard to move around the plane, but we really needed to make it to a seat. 9

With a lot of difficulty, I helped Kate get to a seat, and then managed to get into the one next to her. Suddenly, the lights in the plane flashed on. The light bulb must have moved into place again briefly from wherever it was. It was only light for a few seconds, but it was enough to see Kate properly for the first time. She was beautiful. 10

Once we reached full altitude, we started to hit turbulence. The plane was shaking out of control, and the door, which was only shut by the outside air pressure pushing against it, pulled open. It sounded like it snapped off as well. Without the door, the cabin started to lose its air pressure. All objects that weren’t attached to anything started to fly out the door.11

“I’m scared Shane!” Kate cried. She grabbed onto me tight for safety, even though she was wearing the seatbelt. “Please don’t let go of me.”12

“Don’t worry Kate, I won’t. You’re safe with me.” She was still clearly scared, but there wasn’t anything I could do to calm her down, so I just kept holding onto her, hoping to at least calm her down a little.13

“I don’t want to die though!” Still screaming, Kate really regretted coming on this flight. 14

“You’re not going to die. We’ll be fine. I’m sure Frank knows what he’s doing.” I tried to console Kate, but by now, even I didn’t believe what I was saying. I had to keep hope though. Objects were still flying around the cabin, and something came from towards the back, and hit me in the head, and I fell unconscious.

Very fitting title on this chapter! That certainly sounds like a flight from hell and one that I would not want to be on. Keep up the great work on this! I'm looking forward to reading more when you add the next chapter it's very intriguing!
