The dishwater makes me want to cry, It's something about the silence and how thoughts keep running through my mind.1
I can't hear the water, or the people rushing about, I just hear myself thinking.2
I think about these past few months. I've lost some chances that I'll never get again and I've probably lost some friends.3
I tried so hard for so many years to fit in, But that's not me. And I'm not talking about clothes or hair or anything material. I'm talking about my mind, my soul, I'm so unlike the people around me and not in a good way. They don't like me like I think they do and everytime I try to help somebody it ends up worse and worse each time. My friends, Well there's very few of those.4
They don't even understand me or what goes through my mind.5
No, not the stereotypical thoughts of some lyrical, suicidal teen.6
These are different. Sometimes bland and normal, all the way to warped and suffocating.7
Things you wouldn't tell anybody, ever, because they might never talk to you again.8
These are the very things that cause people to be hated, to be stared at, and to be laughed at, in the face.9
Now you wonder why people are so mysterious and guarded. They have secrets just like everybody else, and you also wonder, what secrets could a teenager possibly have?10
I'm willing to bet there's a few that might frighten, even scare you.11
But those, They should stay locked up.12
They should be kept in our minds safe and secure.13
We should probably take them to our graves.14
But what happens when you just can't keep them anymore?15
What happens when you become so human that you want to get them off your chest before you die?16
Even if people stare and laugh and insult.17
You want them to know.18
Part of you even wants them to be freaked out, To wonder if you really are sane.19
But the more logical half wants you to be honest.20
Honest, right. Not a single person in the world is fully honest.21
If you were a middle aged man who no longer has sex with his wife and you went out to a strip club every night, Would you be telling that woman who sits up every night, clad with a piece of gold around her finger, that you were watching woman stripe down on poles every night?22
I think not.23
If you were some sick old perv who got his jollys off from watching little kids play in the park, Would you be reporting yourself to the police?24
Obviously not.25
So they're all here.26
In our world, they're our politicians, Our friends, Even our family.27
So, If your spouse comes home late and smells like perfume, Is he cheating?28
And if you announce it and he really isn't, Does that make you a hypocrite?29
Worrying and spying so much that you're suffocating him?30
Yeah, probably. 31
Is that fair?32
No, it's not. but that's how our world works. You screw someone over, It comes right back around.33
And eventually secrets get out.34
But to choose to put them on paper or screen, That requires a sort of bravado.35
That's what I'm here for.36
Your national story teller.37
And I don't leave a detail out.

Very a very nice take on secrets that moves away from the typical teenage angst that usually populates this subject. I enjoyed the structure of the prose, it kept me reading which obviously says something about your skill at keeping your words fluid.
Paragraph 22: Should stripe be strip?
Keep up the good work, you have talent. -

yeah, everyone kept telling me that, I just forgot to edit it lol

I agree with Selene, very true words here! I have some skeletons in my closet, and they are hidden, interwoven into my poetry and my stories. Can you find them? lol but good point here! Great story! -Liz

Oh my god I loved reading that and it's so true to. I mean that practically describes everyone in a way. I don't think there would be a person alive who doesn't have some deep secret. And obviously if someone's spouse came home smelling like that most would indeed question them or secretly wonder. I know I sure would. Great thought provoking read here
