Letters to the Tooth Fairy

Dear Tooth Fairy,1

I lost a tooth today. Well...sort of. It fell out of my mouth and all, but I can't find it. I've heard that you build your castle out of teeth and that it's jut beautiful. And when you give money, you're basically buying the tooth. I get all that. But, I lost the tooth. So maybe, do you think you could find it and give me the money? Thanks!2

Wow, you are ever so kind. When I woke up this morning I was delighted to find five dollars. I can buy at least three packs of gum with that! That makes me so happy. I am kind of puzzled as to why you hide them in the pillowcase. It makes it safer...is that it? When I got the first ten dollars it took me some time to find out that it was in the pillowcase. But you are clever! I admire you. I won prize in school, by the way. It was because my art was the best. Only I didn't get anything. I would love to have some...you know, money? 11

Dear Tooth Fairy,14

Before I could even get the money last night, mom took away my pillowcase. When I looked inside for just a second, I noticed there was a whole bunch on bills. I guess I didn't feel them because they were under the pillow, just in the case. Wow! But Mom took them all. She said something about switching the cases by accident, and oh that was where all the money had gone. She said that she put all the stray bills in there to keep it hidden and then they just disappeared. I said it was from you. But she didn't believe me! You are going to give me more money, right? Just to make up for the bills I lost.15
