Rose Petals Ch. 9

Kurama would spend a week in the hospital, after her little accident and was given painkillers to dull the pain when she needed it. After being told by the doctors to get plenty of rest Kurama went home happy to finally lay in her own bed again and be in her own house. Kurama slept peacefully that night, not having any of her nightmares and was up the next morning cooking breakfast as she felt strong arms come around her belly. 2

"What are you doing up fox, your supposed to be resting." Hiei said somewhat irritated that Kurama would go against a doctor's wishes.3

"Don't worry I feel fine." Kurama assured the shorter fire demon hearing the doorbell ring. 4

"Who the hell is that?" Hiei asked as Kurama gently slapped him. 5

"I swear between you and Yuuske, I'm gonna have to muzzle you two or something..." She said putting on her image watch in case it was someone other than Yuuske or the others. Smoothing her shirt over her growing belly she walked to the door opening it she sighed some seeing Yuuske Kuwabara and Genkai at the door. 6

"Oh its only you three, come on in." She said opening the screen door and letting them in as she took the watch off. 7

"You wear that thing even in your own home?" Genkai asked raising an eyebrow. 8

"I'm expecting some of our other classmates to come by and see how I'm doing. My shoulder I'm not worried about...these four on the other hand." She said and brought a hand to her stomach. 9

Genkai though she didn't have kids herself could only imagine the constant worry that Kurama was going through carrying not one but four babies. That and the stress of having to go to school and keep a huge secret. It was a lot on the young former Reikai detective and though she didn't admit it she wished the best for Kurama and Hiei. 10

"How are they by the way? Any movement yet?" Yuuske asked. 11

"Other than the little slides and pressing against my belly for back rubs and whatnot nothing major...and they're doing better since the incident, I think that week in the hospital actually did me some good." she said sitting down and winced.12

"Now if I could do something about this pain in my back." She said smiling some. 13

Yuuske and Kuwabara sat by her as well and Hiei joined them a while later and the five got to talking about kurama's kits and other things even some of the new things that seemed to be the rage with guys. Kurama laughed at some of the things Kuwabara and Yuuske brought up as she sighed some and looked up at the ceiling. 14

"Hey I'm curious about something." Kuwabara said.15

"Mmm?" Kurama asked looking at him. "What is it?" 16

"I know a pregnancy with any set of multiples a woman is supposed to be due two or three months early instead of the whole nine months thing, so you being demon and all, how long are Kitsune's pregnant for?" He asked.17

"I've actually been curious about that two. Not to mention how you managed to have four when Hiei's Koormine genetics should have allowed only twins." Genkai said.18

Kurama blinked some thinking for a while. She had been expecting that question to come up at some point during her pregnancy, but to add Hiei's genetics into it was a whole different subject. She sighed some trying to figure out how to make it as simple as possible for Yuuske and Kuwabara's sake. Genkai she didn't worry about making things simple since shoe would understand it anyway.19

"Far as I know A kitsune's gestation period is about a month shorter than a humans so I'll probably be giving birth around seven or eight months. And with these four I'd say the earliest I'll be giving birth is around six months...hopefully I can hold out till my calculated due date." She said frowning.20

"And Hiei's genetics?" Yuuske asked.21

"That still somewhat confuses me." Kurama admitted. 22

"How so?" Kuwabara asked?23

"The Koormine are a race of demons made of only women, and maybe one or two male elders, every 100 or so years a koormine woman becomes pregnant and gives birth to a set of identical twin girls. In mine and Yukina's case our mother mated with a fire demon, and unholy act and highly forbidding on the island of the koormine." Hiei said. 24

"So instead of twin identical girl twins..." Yuuske said. 25

"My mother gave birth to fraternal twins, myself and Yukina, I being a forbidding child was thrown off the island." Hiei finished.26

"That still doesn't answer my question." Genkai asked.27

"The best I can come up with is that Kitsune's normally give birth to anywhere from two to four kits, now those four from what I know are actually two sets of identical twins, one set are girls, the other set are boys. As for the fire demon half of Hiei's genetics I have no idea." Kurama said.28

"So your gonna have two Koormine kitsune's and two fire demon Kitsune's?" Kuwabara asked confused as everyone sweat dropped. 29

"No you pathetic excuse for an idiotic human, the four will more than likely, be both Koormine, fired demon and kitsune all in one." Hiei said.30

Yuuske gave a long low whistle. "Damn that's a gene pool right there." He said. 31

"Mmm...I guess since they were conceived when I was human is an added bonus since they'll be born human." She said.32

The others all nodded at that little tidbit of information as they continued talking through till about noon when the three left and Kurama smiled some as she went to put some medicine on her shoulder and came back downstairs sitting down with Hiei as Hiei lay his head on her belly removing the bandage from his Jagan eye. 33

"Any names?" He asked smiling. 34

"One..its for one of the girls..her name will be Shiori Rose Minamono." She said.35

Hiei made a noise that sounded like both a chuckle and a laugh as he did a weekly check up on his lover, that for some odd reason only he was allowed to do now. 36

"So?" Kurama asked.37

"What you don't keep track of how far along you are?" Hiei joked.38

Kurama frowned and gave him a light slap on his head as Hiei leaned up and felt Kurama's stomach placing four light kisses on her belly. Even at now fourteen weeks Kurama was a whole lot bigger than normal. No way in hell was he about to tell her that. Come to think of it, he wondered when her mood swings and the weird cravings would start kicking in, and if they have already, he wasn't around to witness them...thank the Makai for that.39

He blinked some when he felt a sudden weight on his legs and looked at Kurama's head with her red hair splayed about on the black of his pants rest.40

"Heh not even a stupid remark before you pass out dumb fox." He said stroking her head while she slept.41
