My humble home ( york ).

This is a little story about the city in which I live ... the place is called the CITY OF YORK and it was founded by the Romans .... in 71 AD  ( After Dinner ), we live two miles away from the city centre in a once small village called Acomb ... which is really a giant sand pit.1

I have lived in the city all my life` well except for living in Lincolnshire for two boring years, where I went to collage and married my dear wife Sarah in 1987 ... and we are still happy and together.2

The main part of the city is surrounded by the city walls and much of the city has not been changed much over the last 300 or 400 years, The railway station has moved twice to allow for the growth of the railway network ... the local railway works once employed over 25`000 workers !3

but sadly it has now all closed.4

York is famous for the railways, chocolate factories and the horse racing course too ... and of course YORK MINSTER, The minster has more stained glass in it than any other church or minster anywhere in the world.5

York has been invaded by Roman`s, saxon`s, vikings, norman`s and a few million tourists since it`s very birth, to visit our city is like taking a step back in time and you are never far away from a museum or world landmark.6

York has been home to kings and queens alike` we even have a window in the Minster to commemorate the end of the WAR of The ROSES, Cromwell Died at York and so have many other famous villains too including a rather famous highway man ? who would shout " stand and deliver" followed by the scary words " your money or your life ".7

The City is divided by two rivers` the river Foss .. which is a tiny river that flows rather nicely into the city, then there is the river Ouse that can often rise 19 ft in just a few hours after a heavy rain fall ... that often leads to large scale flooding all around the Vale of York.8

well` I hope you all will enjoy this little insight into my little part of the globe ? and hopefully you may be tempted to hop across ye great pond and visit our humble City of York.9

Author notes

People often know very little about where I live ! ... so` hopefully this little story may help a few people get a general idea of what our humble home is like.

Like I told you Carl, I do want to visit York. From all the pictures and everything that I have read of yours, I can see that York is a very interesting place. Far more interesting than here. Hmm. Maybe I'll put something up about where I live. Though, the city isn't too great. There are only two good things in this city of mine. Hillforest, the largest mansion in the county that over looks the entire city, and, oddly, my house. Which was a stop on the underground railroad. Blessed be.

this was just a load of twaddle about where we live ... there is no real plot to it all ... it just kinda came together as I was typing it all out.
