I looked through the window, outside was still snowing heavily and everything was covered in a white thick blanket.1
A full moon glowed like a round pearl in the sky, a sea of ebony. I watched it glow and dance atop the water. Soon. Soon, I would not be myself but a lifeless body lying on the cold floor.2
I sat alone in my darkened room, scribbling the note with shaking hands of grief. I had enough of my miserable existence and was determined to put an end to it. 3
My last written words were a goodbye to my best friend, my fiancée. She had been very supportive all along but life itself was too much to cope with.4
I had already decided that night that I was going to die and nobody would stop me this time; I was going to take my life with my own hand. However, I did not have the courage to continue, to consummate my threat, my desire of death, until the vampire came.5
It walked towards me on silent feet, fangs glistening in the pale moonlight, its eyes glowing bright red. At first, I froze in fear. However, that mysterious look was hypnotising and my mind went completely blank.6
Its touch, so warm and relaxing, felt like an exotic massage from which I couldn’t escape, I wouldn’t move, I wouldn’t dare resist even if I wanted to. There was something in that creature that created so much attraction, a sense of danger and freedom that called to me.7
"I shall kill you so you can live." It whispered lightly in my ear.8
The vampire swore that I wouldn’t be the same, which alone sounded like a promise of a new life, a new me. It was a very tempting offer. Exactly what I wanted and desperately needed.9
In the past I had considered various escapes and dramatic changes but so far everything I had already tried, failed. The vampire explained to me that it was so simple to achieve. All I had to do was to willingly offer my neck and just one byte would cause the spillage of my own blood.10
The vampire told me that his main job was to seek desperate humans who would like to share his lifestyle rather than continue coping with the misery they had to live with on a daily basis. All they had to do was sell their soul to his master for the chance to live a different life.11
For me to have the same chance, all I needed to do was to sign the agreement with his master, a deal which would seal my fate, a byte on the arteries, and I would awake to a new life. 12
So far it seemed simple and good enough for me. The only worry that I had at the back of my mind was to meet the mentioned master. Surely if the vampire was so horribly dangerous, its owner was bound to be worse. 13
I put the grim thoughts behind, tilted the head sideways and, within seconds, I could feel the deep wounds from the byte on my neck like two needles penetrating into my skin.14
The air was heavy and thick; I turned to the vampire, its face and fangs stained, as it carried blood on its numb fingers and pointed to the contract, an irregularly shaped scroll that he had left ready on the table.15
“I can feel your fear growing stronger inside you, your pulse, so shallow and fast, is not doing you any favours. Now listen to me, if you do not sign this you will surely die and there shall be no deal”16
I was still in shock from the pain and his accurate words but, since I had already gone a step too far, it wouldn’t really matter if I took another one. I took my hand from the wound and placed the bloodied fingertips on the scroll.17
“Now take me to the master, I must see him or her at once, before I die” I requested quickly. The byte had been very effective and my blood was pouring out faster than I had originally expected. I could feel my body growing colder and colder by the minute.18
My request had been accepted and I was about to be taken to an unknown world when my lover, Chelsea, entered the room. I was stunned. I didn’t know how she would take the fact that a vampire had just messed up my neck, Chelsea’s favourite spot.19
Chelsea and I met when we were at school. Since then, we had become soul mates, two bullied victims. Everyone picked on us but they did not hurt her as much as me. 20
“Cain!, Stop, stop at once, you evil creature, get away from Jim” She shouted sharply at the vampire.21
I was so confused… I stared at my friend trying to understand why she was so upset and angry. Perhaps she had read the note that I left by the coffee table but I looked and it still was there, unopened. 22
She rushed next to me and tried to stop the bleeding by pressing with her hand on the wound. I could feel the flow slowing down. She really was good at these things. 23
Something didn’t make sense though, she called him Cain, somehow the vampire and Chelsea seemed to know each other. How was that possible?. 24
"What the heck do you think you are doing here, Cain?" she enquired in an annoyed tone.25
At her presence, the vampire's voice turned deep and terrifying. I looked at the vampire, his evil grin was frightening, and he stared at me like an eagle would look at an easy prey.26
“At your friend’s request, I’m taking him to meet the master. Now, if you excuse us, we’ve got business to attend to” The vampire snared.27
“You better tell him to come over here instead. I won’t let you take Jimmy anywhere and his time is running out fast as is” She stated in a very serious tone, whilst her words were making my fear grow stronger by the minute. 28
I wondered how she knew what had happened and I started to half guess that the sweet deal was not so sweet after all and that I definitely got myself into big trouble.29
“I think the master would not feel comfortable enough here. I sense hostility around” indicated the vampire as he stared at her chest and drew our attention to her jewellery.30
Chelsea ripped the gold crucifix necklace off her neck and hid it in her hand as if she was not wearing it at all, trying to avoid displaying it openly.31
“Happy now?” enquired the girl.32
The vampire smiled evilly as if he was already winning the war. It didn’t take him long to tame her actions to his will.33
“Better. Still, I’m afraid that there are no facilities here to accommodate such an important guest.” pointed out the vampire impatiently.34
"We’ll see about that" stated Chelsea decisively.35
At which point, Chelsea took the big black rug from underneath the sofa. It was an item that she never allowed me to be nowhere near it. She rolled it on the floor and I saw the huge silver pentagram embroiled on it. I was scared; I never guessed that Chelsea could be involved with the black arts.36
She placed the candles on specific positions, one on top of each of the five corners. She stood in the middle, sat down and crossed her legs and waited and waited. I thought that we had gone all mad by then. I gathered that this must have been a nightmare taking place just inside my head. 37
There was a vampire in my room, my girlfriend was acting like a witch, whispering bizarre words and chanting strange melodies, and I was stuck in a corner, saying nothing, doing nothing, just feeling pain, slowly bleeding away, feeling cold and numb.38
As the time went by, I noticed that nothing was happening. I smiled and told everyone that I had enough of the prank for the night. It was 3 am in the morning and I was tired, weak, in agony, I needed to get some rest.39
Suddenly, to my horror, the demon finally turned up. His red fiery body appeared between the burning flames. A human-like form made purely of fire with a strangely grave voice. I was eager to stare directly into his eyes but did not have a chance to do so.40
“Bow to the master” the vampire commanded. 41
I could not look at all as I was forced into a kneeling position by the tight grip of the vampire’s fingernails wrapped around my neck, painfully crushing it.42
“Well, well, well… look at the uninvited guest.” The devil stated in a ridiculing tone. 43
“It has been ages since we last met, remember the good old times when we were best friends? I have not forgotten them nor your betrayal when you stood up against me in your fight for righteousness.” He mentioned in a bitter, angry tone.44
“So, what brings you here this time? Perhaps you finally came to join the dark side? Perhaps you are in need of my help?” Satan enquired as he walked around Chelsea, carefully inspecting her, smelling her flesh in a very tempting manner, making my blood boil in jealousy.45
“You know, the human body disguises your real self really well, I must admit I would not have recognised you at all. I bet you never told anyone about your past, about your real identity…I’m sure you forgot to mention to your *special* friend that you are, in fact, his guardian angel...” he was explaining in an insinuating and incriminating voice.46
I was astonished by what I was hearing, how could Chelsea keep such a secret from me, it just didn’t make sense at all, yet, she was not saying anything, she just looked at me, sorrowful.47
“Well, I will let you in a secret, girl, as far as I can tell… he thinks that the female figure really suits you, so attractive and so sensual, I think so too, but sooner or later he was bound to find out your secret, don’t you agree?”.48
The demon noticed me and suddenly took the form of a human. He approached me and grabbed me by the hair, pulling my head backwards. 49
“Oh.. I see, your protégée. Is this what brings you here then? Simply business?” Asked Satan with a devilish smile. 50
“Let’s have a look, attempted suicide, hmm… oh, here we are, the contract, he sold his soul to me… It seems, girl, this time you’re too late, the war is already over and I won! Better luck next time” mocked the devil triumphantly.51
My body became strapped with very heavy shackles, everything felt so heavy, so hot. I was trapped and couldn’t even move or run away or even scream as I was being dragged away by Cain, the vampire. I knew I was doomed.52
“No! Jimmy! come back to me, I can’t afford to lose you now, not now! I do love you, I promise I always will!” I could hear Chelsea’s broken voice drowned in tears. Her hand trying to grab mine, her eyes staring at me.53
As I was being dragged away into the darkness, the atmosphere smelled of a pestilent sulphur and everything felt so hot that I could not even keep awake any longer.54
“I swear I will get you out this mess, you hear me, I won't give up on you!” Chelsea's voice became softer and softer, like a quiet whisper.55
“Suicide has no redemption; you should know that by now. You’ve lived like a human for too long, you feel for them, you feel like them, you are almost one of them, you disappoint me” pointed out the devil harshly as he was returning into a flaming form.56
“Let him go at once” Chelsea demanded.57
“Haven’t you got any manners towards your lover’s master? Is that a way to beg to your enemy whilst you're in defeat?” stated the devil. These were poignant words from her archenemy spat at her face.58
“Help him... please... I beg you” Chelsea asked in a grovelling manner. She was crying tears, tears of despair.59
“Me? Help him? Now why would I do that? Why would I ever want to set a human soul free after all the effort? I don’t think so, it’s nothing personal dear, simply business.” He pointed out carelessly.60
“If a soul is what you seek just take anybody else’s. I won’t stop you, you’ll be free to take as many as you wish” She offered in a desperate bid to get me off the hook.61
“Sounds reasonable but why would I want to work all over again?. It isn’t worth the hassle when I already hold one” The devil announced in a lazy manner.62
“Everything has a price. Just tell me what you want and I shall give it to you” Chelsea stated in an anguished tone.63
“Your soul for his soul, an angel’s one for that of a human, but beware that it’s not paradise down there. Surely you must know that I have a special place just for you, my long time enemy” warned the devil “Do we have a deal?”64
Renouncing freedom and righteousness in exchange for an eternity of doom and suffering was quite a difficultly balanced deal. However, when adding my fate into the equation, she knew it was the only way forward. 65
“We do” confirmed Chelsea as she gave up the human form and returned to her old self, to being an angel, with white delicate wings and a shiny armour.66
“Now, as an act of submission and to renounce to your old ways, chuck that cross away and bow at my feet, at your master’s feet.” Demanded Satan in a daring tone.67
In the presence of all the angels from heaven and the devils from hell, she threw the necklace away as far from her as she could, she fell to her knees and prostrated herself until the head touched the ground. A flare of victory surrounded the devil whilst the flames engulfed the new fallen angel. 68
As agreed, I went free, back alive as if nothing ever happened. I was in my bed, deep asleep.69
“From now on your will is mine, you shall do as I command. Disobey me and your very existence will be turned even grimmer.” cautioned Satan.70
“What delectable torture have you got in mind for me? What will become of me, if you don’t mind an old friend asking?” wondered the angel.71
“I will turn you into a demon, even better, a vampire. You shall take temptation’s place from now on. After all, that’s what your friend signed up for, didn’t he? An eternity of servitude” The devil stated in a burlesque tone.72
“I think a dark sensual female body will do you nicely, Chelsea. I'm sure men won’t be able to resist you and, tonight, a lonely guy called Jimmy needs some cosy and promiscuous company to drown his sorrows and passions with lust and a bite." revealed the demon.73
Chelsea was alarmed, her eyes widely opened, but words could not come out of her mouth. She should have expected something like this, after all, that old thorn was the father of lies and deceit.74
"Ironic, isn’t it? You have turned from defeating temptation to inciting it, from saving your friend to damning him. ... I would call it a twist of fate. Anyways, Jimmy was always meant to be mine and you two together. After all, you did promise him eternal love and angels always keep their promises.” remarked Satan. 75
At a raise of the devil’s hand, Chelsea, took again a human form and was turned into a very desirable woman, with long dark hair, pale skin, black eyes and her fangs, this time long and sharp, were already thirsting for fresh blood.76
She was taken back to my flat where she was left to mourn her fate, until nighfall, the time to get back to work and execute her master's command. 77
At dusk, when I woke up to go to work because I was working nightshifts, I checked my neck and I realised that it had only been a horrible nightmare.78
I found Chelsea sitting by the bed, she was staring at me, smiling, a strange glimpse of darkness and sorrow sorrounded her. I could sense danger but I took no notice of it.79
I picked her up and invited her to stand by my side, by the window, where we could stare at the full moon with its silvery light glittering on the snow. The sky was clear, sparkling; it was perfect for a romantic night.80
I embraced her tenderly, passionately. She turned around and placed her head on my shoulder whilst we cuddled. My heart was pounding fast, passion flowing through my veins, my head was tilted sideways to make space for hers and my neck was relaxed. 81
At last we shared a kiss, our first and last true love kiss; I felt her sharp fangs penetrating my neck, my blood pouring freely whilst my life force drained away. It trully had been a bite in the night, a breathtaking kiss.

Good vampire tale.
Chelsea was not a very good guardian angel. She wound up giving herself and her lover over to Satan. I was expecting her to turn the tables on Satan as is often the case. I guess that this was kind of a change of pace. It is a good entry in the Monsters, Demons, and Villains group. Is eternal damnation their only punishment, or are they going to go about collecting other souls?

Wow!
Simply wow! The twist at the end was awesome, and I absolutely adored the descriptions! The dialogue was the kind that I crave to read, and I LOVED how you combined options to create a unique story all it's own. This really sucked me in, and I REALLY enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for entering! I relish stories with a good twist!!!
