I hope some day you'll join us,3

And the world will live as one."4

-----A Perfect Circle-----5

1: The Moronic Institution6

Somewhere out beyond the cold and retched plain of this world their lies prosperity. Something we cannot grasp within the slightest reaches of our imaginations, nor in the prospects and diversions of life as we know it. Salvation is out there...just not in this brick hell.7

My name is Ayla, I'm 15 years old, and a freshman at a weird little public school in Maryland. I've only been in Maryland a short time. A nice change from my old home on the range in Delaware, land of retarded chickens and suicidal senior citizens. I stick out like a sore thumb in this neighborhood. My neighborhood is the "Richie hood" with all of its two million dollar houses for sale and Mercedes benzes out in the driveways. I like black. Its a fact. (Hey that rhymes *cha*) I decorate my room with Halloween decorations and I prefer striped socks to white ones. I also prefer my trench coat to my mother and sister's light pink and blue ones, which matches their Ugg boots. MY coat matches my shoes, my eyeliner, my fingernails, and the ribbons in my hair. Sometimes it matches my mind.8

Today PPH factor is the scale in Math class I'm going by. PPR stands for Pop Tarts per hour.9

Sugar is good on Wednesdays. Hell, sugar is good on any day when taken before a boring class. My teacher has the attention span of barbie on steroids and the vocabulary of a Neanderthal. He gives these 'Derrrr' looks in class when he doesn't understand a word like 'pensive' which I ran by him last week.  10

Some kid poked me in the back at the end of Math when the teacher was done his little speech on teaching for the money, not for the satisfaction of knowing our kids are the mathematicians of tomorrow.11

"Hey grrl? You gothlic?" 12

Please, someone tell me why I freakin get that question so much. Everyone has to be in a category. Great job America.13

The Gym bell sounds like a dying rooster, I wish someone would just shoot it and finish it off. The sound reminds me of the noise my old math teacher would make when she saw my socks.14

Gym is another excuse of segregation. All the "preppies" and "jocks" are on one side and "goths" and "nerds" are on the other. I don't know what I am. But I always wind up on the side with the most misfits. Works for me. They always win anyway. Its kind of funny. We don't really run for the Frisbee or ball or thingamabob anymore. I loathe gym class. 15

I guess one could call me a true misfit. The goths aren't really fond of me because I don't stick to my own little clan. 16

Lunch isn't that bad. Lunch Nazis won't let us eat outside anymore because of the hurlers. The hurlers are morons that throw random food objects and sometimes hijack trash receptacles. 17

We are the future of America. Be afraid, very afraid.18

This is great, I love the way you so perfectly summed up school life. You are so right. This was an excellent read, I really enjoyed it. You sound like your school and situation isn't much different from mine. I think it's the same everywhere... thanks for entering, good luckL!

lol I don't really know if this was a story, just your thoughts. It didn't really have the sound of an author, just a teen talking about herself. I could relate to a little. It's funny, you called the teachers "Lunch Nazis"...in our school, we have "Study Hall Nazis" This was entertaining.

I'm not exactly the prep, but I stand right along with you in English, the nerd. Oh well. Keep on writing, I love to look at the funniness of our high school. Oh, and good job at drama...I probably told you that, but anyway...And I understand that this is kinda an old story, but the comment still applies...

once again the word receptacle comes up... i guess i have the vocabulary of a Neanderthal too. hahahh (still lazy to bring out the dictionary.com) .. or did you already explain to me what it is? wow.. i guess i have the attention span of barbie on steroids too. awesome......

well. i do, love your sarcasm. you are witty and funny and you have a unique sense of humor. i like it. it's very tasteful.

This story reminds me of myself.. really.. it does. Especially the part where the kid asks you if you're gothic. I get that a lot. They ask me if i'm a punk rocker.. do we all have to be labeled as something?!?!?! Sometimes i get soo annoyed but other times i just let it go...

I hope that my new high school won't be so bad... but i know i'll be sticking out like a sore thumb... (just like you).

    i love it.

heheheh... I love this... they say that kids have the truest view of the world . I need to do something like this sometime, but but I have the attention span of a barbie doll on steroids with dyslexia coupled with ADD and the metabolism of a hummingbird.

Heh... I seem to remember you telling me your birthday was in november...sorry I missed it. Happy Birthday Rosebud! You're now over the hill . heheh
