Alexandra, Alexa for short, was a fifteen year old teenage girl with a spring in her step and God in her heart. She had always gone to a Christian school, she loved every minute of it. But when she turned sixteen, her life would make a pit-stop.1
Her parents argued all the time, but she always knew God would handle the situation, but not this way. Her neighbor was an eighty year old woman named Martha, who Alexa had always been close to since she was at least ten. They played cards together, had tea parties and watched old black and white movies. 2
Well Alexa was over at Martha's taking care of yard work, when she noticed her parents yelling at each other through the kitchen window, they were arguing over her dad's drinking problem. Jack, her father, was throwing his hands all over the place as she noticed he had a beer can in his hand, "Dad must be drunk.." Alexa thought and she looked back down at the pile of leaves she was raking.3
About ten minutes later she noticed they were still arguing,Alexa tried to ignore them but she couldn't. Still raking leaves while listening in, but all of a sudden, she heard a gunshot, she looked back at the window and saw her dad standing there, alone. He had shot her mother.4
But when Jack saw Alexa staring through the window at him, he froze, then put the gun to his head and took his own life. Alexa fell to her knees in tears.."God, if you hear me Lord please let me know this isn't real, I don't want this all to be real. Amen" She stood up, the same place she fell down to, is where she stood up. She ran inside Martha's house and called 911. "What's wrong Alexa?" Martha asked coming into the kitchen. She held a finger up letting Martha know she meant hold on a second. Once she hung up the phone Alexa broke down crying.5
"I was outside raking leaves and i heard Mom and Dad arguing, and about ten minutes after it had started, i heard a gunshot, and i looked through the window, Dad was standing alone, he saw me, then took his own life!" Alexa said trying not to cry so much to where she couldn't talk.6
Martha couldn't do anything more than just hold Alexa in her arms and comfort her. Once the police arrived they searched the house, listened to what Alexa had said, and left. 7
Alexa was left with her aunt Lisa and uncle Leon. Where they lived there were no Christian schools. So she had to go to the school she feared most, a public school. Where the kids were so hateful and so un-Christian like. The first day was as Alexa called it..hell on earth. The kids gave her evil stares and shoved her and everything. Alexa couldn't wait to graduate, but she couldn't in this place. 8
She had to get out, but how? Praying every night for God to send her an angel to help. The next day at school, it just so happened that there was another Chrisitan girl there, her name was Liz. Alexa got the courage to go and talk to her and ask her about her walk with God. Everyday they would sit together at lunch and not even eat. They were too busy talking about God and their testimonys and write down names of students who needed God most.9
Witnessing and inviting friends to church, they were unstoppable. Teachers yelled at them because they thought they were talking about the Lord too much, but they didn't listen, freedom of religion right? Thinking they would grow old together and become missionaries. But that all would change on graduation day.10
Standing next to each other in line for their diplomas. "Alexandra Grace Southerton" and then "Elizabeth Sue Maratino" as they walked out of the auditorium and talking about how they can't wait to see each other at Bible College and things like that. But when Alexa got outside and saw Liz's parents they signaled for her to go over to them.11
Alexa couldn't hear what they were saying. But before they left Liz went over to her and told her what her parents had said "They say you should come over for dinner, they want to talk to you." 12
So that night Alexa went to the Maratino's for a delicious dinner of spaghetti and garlic bread. Dave and Sara, Liz's parents, called for her to go into the family room. "The reason we had you over here Alexa is, we don't think you and Liz should be friends anymore, and I'm sorry but I'm afraid we want you to go now."13
Alexa walked out the door with tears streaming down her face. "First my parents die and now this?" She thought walking down the sidewalk. While walking she saw a sign that said, "Lowland County Christian School"14
She ran for her life to her aunt and uncles house..."I want to go to the Lowland County Christian School." "Well ok, as long as you help with the finaces, get a job and help around the house." answered Leon. It sounded fair to Alexa.15
The first day she walked in oh so proudly. Making friends and laughing, she loved it here better than her old Christian school. The first day everyone gave their testimonies, and when they started, Alexa began having flashbacks of the first real friend she ever had. Liz.16
Author notes
This really didn't make sense i thought, but its a good story in my views. Friends make you stronger, just like Liz did to Alexa in this story. I hope you all like this. God Bless.
