Sands of Time

The blade went swiftly and briskly from left to right in anticipation of new bloodshed. Mavros could feel Psychi’s excitement. With but an inch left between the razor edge of Psychi and the naked skin of Nekro’s neck, Nekro thrust up Medusa and parried Mavros’ attack. Nekro quickly caught his breath and rolled backward landing on his feet in a squatted stance and spun Medusa’s handle to his hands.1

Mavros couldn’t believe his eyes. He had just used perhaps one of the most deadly triple threat combination attacks known to man and Nekro brushed it off as though it was a mere sweeping kick. Quickly forwarding all focus back to Nekro he assumed his offensive stance. He raised Psychi to shoulder level directly in front of him with his elbows bent slightly and the point of the sword directly at eye level. As Mavros completed his stance Nekro lunged at him with his powerful legs and went for a top-to-bottom slice. As his distance to Mavros dramatically decreased he dropped his arms, placing his fists by his groin, and dropped the tip of the sword to chest level allowing for him to complete a center-straight stab.2

As Mavros watched idly, he quickly began spinning the tip of Psychi in small circles with the flick of his wrists in order to quickly catch the stabbing sword and toss it aside. With a slice of luck and a great amount of skill Mavros successfully overturned Nekro’s attack by making contact with Medusa and swiftly sliding and guiding it down and away from Mavros. Nekro continued moving forward with a counter-attack. He thrust his shoulder into Mavros’ chest sending him back off his feet.3

Nekro quickly spun around in the direction in which Medusa had been guided to and flicked his wrist on a follow through and caught Mavros’ neck at the sword’s point. All he had to do was simply drop the sword and Mavros was as good as dead. “Don’t move or I will be forced to kill you.” Nekro demanded. “Isn’t that what you have been trained to do from the very beginning?” Mavros snapped back. “You’ve been waiting for this chance from the very beginning of our friendship. The moment that you could betray me with reason!” Mavros ridiculed.4

Nekro seemed to hesitate in action at these words. This would’ve provided an excellent opening for a surprise move on Mavros’ part. However, before I go any further I think it would be wise to explain both of these boys training. So we shall return to the following day after Dark Fire was killed and Sentinel was captured.5
