Puppy Mania (part 2)

For five days, I kept that secret. It was terribly hard, and many things made me want to talk about my dogs. I couldn’t tell anyone at school. The latest news ALWAYS gets around. I was like being a detective, there was no one I could trust. And the last day of school, I spilled it all out to my friends at school. “Yeah, and then she said ‘Maybe two.’ and then I went crazy.” I kept telling my friends until I didn’t know who I had told, and who I had not told yet, although there was pretty much no-one I hadn’t told. I felt great to tell everyone that news that I had been holding in. It was my reward for keeping it in for five days. I was finally free from my tormentor, that evil secret. I was now relaxed around my sister, and I knew she suspected nothing. My job had been well done. On that special day that we went to go and get my puppies (yes, I knew it was two now) we had to stop by Brines and pick up some stuff, and then we were going to Grafton. Mom told me we had to be there at eleven o’clock approximately, but at ten thirty, we were still in Brines. After complete and utter torture in Brines, we finally hit the road, and headed for our new pets. It was actually funny, all of the way there, my sister didn’t see a single sign, when all of them said things like “Heading to Grafton” and “Grafton Mall, take left turn” and the strangest of all; “Grafton McDonalds”. Great day to be unobservant, I thought while staring at Lindsay playing with my mom’s cell phone. It was only when we pulled into the breeder’s driveway, that she asked “Where are we?”. “You’ll see.” I said giving mom a wink. We got out of the car, greeted the breeder, and walked over to the puppy pen. Lindsay immediately wanted to hold one, and mom said “What one do you like best?”. Then it was my sister’s turn for her jaw to drop. “Can I have one?” she gasped. “Oh, if you REALLY want one,” my mother said as though getting this puppy involved no thinking or considering at all. “Or maybe we should take two,” mom continued, faking a contemplative tone. My sister then pretty much freaked out! Once she was calm, I showed my sister my favorites from the time I had come on Monday, and we both agreed on the ones I had picked. We each carried one into the car, and immediately fell in love with these frail, furry little fuzz-balls. At last, we had the perfect pets.
