She ducked under a branch and peeked out from behind a tree into the clearing as he walked into the middle of it. It struck her now that the circular nature of the clearing was too much so, manfucatured in some manner. She ducked back behind the tree as he looked over his shoulder one last time, as if he knew. Heart beating fit to fly away she stood still for a moment before turning back to see that odd boy looking around with a sad look on his face. She felt a fierce power tugging deep within as the hairs upon the back of her neck stood on end. She frowned as she saw a tear fall from his cheek to the too green grass of the strange clearing amongst the trees. As he turned to face away from where he was standing she stepped out from behind the tree and moved into the clearing. The world lurched when her bare foot touched the perfect grass in the perfect clearing. She felt sick to her stomach and dizzy to boot. The look on the boy's face as he turned to look at her was one of pure horror as his eyes found hers.1
"NO! Y...YOU...NOOO! YOU MUST LEAVE!"2
His shouts were lost as a howling wind seemed to sweep her away, both mind and body. There was simply nothing...nothing...3
When she awoke the familiar sounds of the woods above her grandmother's house were gone. Sharp calls and a heavy feeling of rich earth and damp foilage greeted her, replacing the sharp clean air of the mountain forests.4
She sat up, realizing she had been lying down, unconcious. Looking around she found the boy. He was kneeling on the ground next to her, tears streaming down his face.5
"What have you done!?" in his voice was a pain and a rage she had not thought possible.6
"What? What do you mean?" she tried to keep her voice steady, but the unbridled emotion of the boy was unsettling.7
He stood, not bothering to wipe the tears from his face. He looked away and sighed in a way that made her feel very sad, though she did not know why.8
"What's wrong?"9
He turned back part way, almost looking at her. His voice was soft, almost as if his outburst of emotion had made him weary, weary behind anything she could understand.10
"You cannot go back."
