"Hey, Rachel..." I leaned over to the girl sitting next to me. I looked up at the board to remind myself of what to do. We were writing some more on our projects. They were supposed to be biographies of Jacob Marley or Ebenezer Scrooge, our choice. Finally, she looked up from her binder.1
"What?"2
"What do you think..." I looked up at the girl diagonal to me in a red shirt. "Alexandra would say if I asked her out?" I didn't know why I asked. I already asked this question a million times, but I was bored. So sue me.3
"I don't know... Maybe, she would probably think about it." 4
Still didn't know why I was asking. I looked back at my paper and tried to write more of Jacob Marley's childhood, still watching out of the corner of my eye. I glanced back at Rachel, who was asking Alexandra something. But my attention redirected to Isaac, a weird boy in my class that also sat diagonal from me. He started another weird story, I don't remember what it was about, but I do remember laughing. I have a life-long case of giggles. Rachel turned to me again, and told me what Alex had said.5
"She said no, because you would be a pervert."6
"No I wouldn't."7
"So then what would you be?"8
"I'd be..." I rolled my pupils to the corner of my eyes, the way I think of an answer. "The perfect guy." She awed in a girly way, and turned back to Alexandra. It never occurred to me that it now sounded like I was serious. Butterflies were frantically zooming about in my stomach, like they were either on crack of on fire. I was too nervous. I tried to write some more again, my way of coping with nervous situations -- changing the subject. I was way too nervous by now to write. I looked around the small classroom. I asked Isaac something. Looked at my friend Benjamin. Finally I looked at Rachel again. Alex had moved a seat back now, so that she was in the same row as us. She was huddled next to Rachel whispering. I shoved my head in my arms on my binder. When I looked up about a minute later, she had her back turned to me, writing. I looked at Rachel again, about to ask what happened, but she was talking with Isaac.9
"..This is what she said." She put her hands around her paper so I couldn't see, but Isaac could. I asked to see, and she said no.10
I was about to ask why not, when I looked at it again, without her blocking it this time. In blue ink there was the word "yes", boxed twice. 11

This is pretty good. I don't know if it is quite passionate enough for what I was looking for but it certainly is a good short story and I enjoyed reading it. ^.^
Good luck.

I liked the funny ending! It shows how romance really is, not the cheesy, hyped kind. Good job
