Changing2

Serene stepped into the kings’ chambers the dress given to her flowing out behind her. Her flowing black hair fell across her shoulders in curls that framed her delicate face. The green of her eyes showed elegantly in contrast with the mud borwn of the dress she wore. The King smiled at her, “you are young for your kind…” he murmured. She smiled and sat across from him but the king laughed, “you mustn’t sit all the way down there… come… sit at my side and eat.” He told her across the table as he patted a chair next to him.3

Serene smiled and agreed walking over to him she sat in the chair. “You’re a lot nicer than my mother said you were…” she told him.4

The king smiled and Serene didn’t like that smile but she just smiled back as he replied, “oh…” he took a drink of wine from a gold goblet and continued, “what is it she said?”5

“oh nothing…” she smiled and took a drink her smile wicked as she continued, “just that you… are a horrible, evil man who takes us prisoner and sells us as slaves for men…well the woman at least… you either kill the males or put them up for breeding purposes… oh and she said you were the ugliest man ever in the human race…”6

The king spit out his wine and stood up so quickly his extravagant chair fell backwards, “I AM NOT UGLY!” he cried.7

She tried to hold back a giggle but she couldn’t hide her smile as he sat down, “I’m sorry… I’m a bit sensitive…” he smiled at her as the food came in.8

The king motioned to one of the servants as they set down the food Selene noticed it was an Elven female and she sighed mother was right…unless she’s here because she wants to be. She approached him and he whispered something into her ear when she looked at Serene her eyes were wide in deep sympathy. Serene began to wonder what the king was up to when the Elven girls left.9

“I did not know you had Elven servants…” she told him as she accepted some food.10

The king smiled, “those who come, after running from home such as you did… found work here. In return they got a place to stay and the promise of my protection.”11

Serene nodded and finished the last of her wine. She smiled when the female servant that the king had talked to brought out some more drink but this one was fizzling. The king’s smile broadened, “this is a new drink we call it pop… as you can see it fits perfectly.”12

Serene accepted it and took a small drink them smiled back, “it tastes good.” She told him as she took another drink.13

By the end of the night she’d drank 4 of the new ‘pop’ drinks. She was acting weird laughing when the king told jokes and she didn’t object when he placed his hand on her leg.14

“My dear would you like to come with me to my chambers?” he asked.15

Serene smiled, “I’ve always wondered how you decorate a human king’s chamber…” she replied as the king helped her to her feet. His hand snaked around her waist and she did not object to that either as he led her out. They passed Drakel who looked at her sadly. He pulled on the kings arm and whispered in his ear, “Sire what are you doing?” he asked.16

The king smiled, “I like this one Drakel… and I plan to make her… a special slave for me… but first I have to see if she’s new… you know how I like inexperienced ones…” he smiled as he pulled away and left Drakel there staring after them.
