A Faerie Tale

Once upon a time, there was a man, cloaked in darkness, and a maiden, wreathed in light. They danced upon the faintest breaths, entwining their lives. He told her not to worry, that her light was not to die; that he would hold onto it as long as time survived. 1

And in this fateful waltz, the violin’s crescendoed, and the leaves lost their sway...Autumn succumbed to the cold, and the maiden lost her way. For she no longer held him, she was cold and alone, her words like singular blades to his heart...Weighed heavy on her soul. 2

She fell upon the trails of past, her soul writhing with disease, until she surely was to meet her demise, along the shores of grief. She clutched the sand within her hands, the salt clinging to her skin...No glint of hope within her eyes as the world began to spin. 3

"My love," She whispered to the breeze. "I have forsaken thee; I clutch my heart within my hands, for in your arms it is free."4

And within a second's time, as the sky began to weep, he gathered her within his arms, and left the shore behind, her dieing eyes upon his own, as she breathed in her last breaths of life. 5

"Remember what I said," He reminded her, his eyes seeming to lack their expected dread. "Your light will never die...for as long as time survives, for I am your light, and you are mine, for as long as we have each other, death is just another stage of life."6

And as they stood now, upon those rocky cliffs, her eyes regained their light, the waves crashing upon the coves, ensuring resurrection: eternal life.7

Thanks! I wrote it recently after getting out of a crappy relationship and falling into a wonderful one. Hopefully it was... you know, hopeful at the end.
