My mom took the whole Kyle-and-I-are-going-to-the-movies-this-weekend-and-the-Winder-Formal-in-two-weeks, thing with that motherly doubt I suppose. She wasn't going to tell me that I couldn't date him. I was, after all, six-teen and was allowed to. 1

Saturday seemed to come slower than normal. But it finally did and I was so many feelings all at once. Mostly giddy though. I think I re-did my eyeliner about five times before I said that it was exceptional. My shirt was changed a grand-total of seven, and I actually put on some perfume. 2

The doorbell rang and I rushed to it. I checked my appearance in the mirror and opened the door. 3

"Hey." Kyle said. I saw his eyes move up and down and I couldn't help but give a small smile.4

"Hey," I said back.5

"Is that Kyle?" My mom said coming to the door.6

"I opened the door wider and my mom extended her hand to Kyle. "Nice to meet you Kyle. Autumn has told me about you."7

"Mom..." I managed to pull out between my teeth. 8

She looked at me and smiled. "Have fun." She kissed my forehead and I exited the door with Kyle. 9

"Nice to have met you ma'am." Kyle said with a wave. "You look like her." He said when we got to his car.10

"I do?"11

"Yeah, but, to be honest, I find you much prettier." He smiled.12

I blushed and looked down. "This is a really nice car." I said trying to break the awkward silence.13

"Thanks, it's my sister's old one. She gave it to me when she left for college."14

I opened the door and got in. "Cool."15

He drove us to the movies and we got in line for the tickets. I started to put my hand in my pocket to get out some money but Kyle touched my arm. "I got this." He said smiling.16

"Ok, but at least let me buy my snacks and stuff." I told him.17

Kyle rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Fine."18

"Thanks." I smiled.19

"You don't like people doing stuff for you do you?"20

"No, not really."21

"Why though, I mean a lot of girls want the guy to take care of everything."22

"Yeah, I know, but it just makes me feel weird."23

"Hrmm, well, whatever you say." Kyle bought the tickets and we headed towards the consession stand. 24

"What are you going to get?" He asked me.25

"Probably just some sno-caps and a soda."26

"No popcorn?"27

"I hate popcorn." I told him with a scowl.28

Kyle looked at me funny.29

"What?"30

"You're the only other person, besides me, that I know who doesn't like popcorn."31
