I was often reminding my daughter about etiquette and hygiene. And the other day was no exception. Because she did so well with her schoolwork I decided to treat her to a box of Smarties.1
After opening the box, she politely offered me a sweet. I prompted her, as she handed it to me, that it would be more hygienic and polite to let me take it for myself as she hadn’t washed her hands yet.2
She thought for a while and said: ‘But you could have dirty hands as well. And you would put germs all over the rest of my sweets!’3
