I couldn’t believe it. Me, a human, getting to be the first person to travel to the first known alien city. I was so excited, and I couldn’t wait to make friends with the aliens. I was in a one person space ship, heading toward Mars. Just me, all by myself, I had never felt so lonely. It’s a weird feeling, wanting to land as soon as possible, yet fearing what you might find. I almost thought that maybe there wouldn’t be anything there when I got there. But, this had been a proven aliens site. And anyways there were millions of people watching me on TV, and though big screens in the space station, so I didn’t really feel vulnerable. All of these thoughts were racing though my head, when I realized that the scientific space map John had given me showed me pointing down, even though there was no down in space. The light with the word “YOU” was blinking, and the screen shouted; “Potential Danger, Potential Danger!” The date on the screen was changing, it said now, 2200. A full 700 years after the actual year, 2130. Oh my god. I thought, I’m loosing my connection.1
Either I was being attacked, or my space ship was failing, and I was going to have to turn back to the earth. But, at this point, the buttons on the ship were all in the Emergency Freeze mode. Therefore, my space ship was on Auto-Drive, and there was no way to turn back. I was going to Mars dead or alive. I shifted in my seat, looking for the Emergency Rescue Button, which happened to be the only button that was left working after the Emergency Freeze. Honestly, I hadn’t looked for it earlier on, as I was supposed to. So, I bent over to look for it. But while looking, I had the strange sensation of being watched. I slowly turned around, and to my horror, nothing but a pair of eyes stared at me! I couldn’t see clearly, but it appeared as thought it had no body at all! A quick gasping noise came out of the object, although I don’t know how. And after the gasp, it disappeared. Strange. I thought to myself. Then all of the sudden, before my very eyes, about 10 more sets of eyes showed up, and, now that I could see clearly, they seemed to have long tails of green gas going down to the floor. Or, in other words, a gas cloud with eyes at the top of the whole thing. Then, out of nowhere, a scream came out. Many screams followed. Seeing as the things had no mouths, I really didn’t know whether it was them or not, but being the only living things in the ship, besides me, I figured it had to be them. “Capture him!” the voices shouted. “This is what we’ve been waiting for!” The green gas things seemed to have different sizes to them. I guessed that the smaller ones were the children. Then, one overpowering voice shouted. “Take him to Maka!” Who is he? I thought. And, having not spoken this entire time, I decided to say nervously. “ Hey, um, guys. What’s going on here? What are you going to do to me? You aren’t going to eat my liver or eyeballs or something, right? Like those old Sci-fi movies say?” “Not really. We were simply going to take you to Maka, our leader. He’ll know what to do with a thing like you.” One Green thing said calmly. Wow, I thought. Aliens aren’t scary in the least. Why, these guys are treating me like old pals. I looked at my scientific space map, which told me that we were very close to Mars. Then a random whoosh! And we had landed. 2
Apparently, the aliens knew how to take over the ship, and make it land smoothly, thank god I wasn’t dead yet. As we were getting of the ship, the green things all squished into little glass balls that rolled along the ground. They had silver arms which the green gas floated into, and then (dun, dun) the arms moved. These aliens were truly amazing. All, I don’t know, 11 of us, including me were walking down a ramp, that led into an airport like place. As soon as we had stepped in, about 1000 other green gas figures in glass balls screamed, and ran screaming “Run away! It’s an alien!” “Wait, I thought you guys were the aliens!” I yelled. “I depends on how you look at it, doesn’t?” Said the tallest alien smugly. “We may be aliens from your point of view, but, you are just as much an alien to us from our point of view. Oh, yeah, and welcome to Koone land. I’m KooneA100.” 3
