"There's always something to run from, death? war? grizzly bear? In my case it was an 18-wheeler on an unstable and bumpy rural road. What an 18-wheeler was doing in this country...didn't matter, fuck that! Run! Of course, people think they can run from things, nothings inescapable, no-one is excluded. Either side of the road was typical hedge-rows leading into generic blackened fields. It was dark, I was lost, and the thousand watt lights blazing as the Behemoth charging for me didn't help my headache."1
With his last ounces of lethargic, restrained, brute ignorant energy, Lone charged the hedge, fully expecting dry grass and safety, as the truck narrowly passed by his legs. What was thought of as safety was a jump in the fire, as he landed in an irrigation swamp. The quagmire was split with streams of water feeding the dry land.2
Lone had already used up those last ounces of strength, and was left useless, clambering like an inept child for dry land, putrid rotten water, oblivious to Lone's more immediate problem stung his eyes, infected with pesticides. Looking up, the distorted kaleidoscope of the stars swirled. "I'm...not supposed to die...this easily", even his thoughts swirled in his head, he felt his was losing his mind, flashing back to those unfamiliar familiar crying faces, those drowning women, lost in a choice between remaining in their burning homes, or daring enough to face the icy-cold water that stung his eyes then. "I...was there?". Obsessive as Lone was, his neurosis saved him, this needed pondering! He instinctively grabbed on hand on dry land, but made little attempt to push himself back up. A massive beam of light fell from straight to right-angles with the ground. He didn't hear a thing. The recurrent flashback confused him, especially as he forgot it everytime. He wasn't there, it was just deja vu.3
Ignorant Lone realised he was drowning, he was still dying. He was bored, but laughing madly from the pain as he pulled himself up to dry land at last. On his back, he observed the distorted stars, and the light shining from the corner of his eye. Lone didn't think, or care for running from the dangers, he was just glad he was alive. On further inspection, he was dead. The damage from the water had already taken it's toll and Lone drew his last breath on a thought of relevant content.4
As in another world, the scenery changes, it grew light, the sun rejuvenating his weary eyes. Huge marble walls and pillars rose from the grass, it reminded him of an old Athenian citadel. Already standing up, faces greeted him, damn his short-term memory for not remembering them. There were kindly, so naturally it seemed like Heaven, it was too pristine not to be. Lone said nothing as they spoke. Why did they all have purple eyes? Growing more intimidating each second, consuming his entire being, what's going on?? 5
FLASH!6
"This ain't no heaven! What's going on?!"7
A spiritual form took him to another place, a kind of stadium, overshadowed by cliché purple and black clouds. From the stadium, a massive black horn grew up from it, menacingly huge at the base, enough for several planes to take up. A long way up, just before the spike broke the clouds was a flying man. The spirit took me closer. A tall, somewhat human...monster, hovered, insanely long hair, with yellow skin and a goatee beard, suspectly well-groomed. Out of the main horn came a smaller version, hanging of the end was [May], an agonising look on her face, that unadulterated fear of knowing you ARE going to die, when you really don't want to. It can happen, it was happening to her, a mess from running black mascara (er?). The abhorred being, this bastard who would dare do anything to [May]! He chanted, I tried to intervene, with all my might, this special being I was supposed to be, to hell with all the pain I was in before, I was a spectator, nothing hurt physically, my mind felt the first 3 shots. Shining purple and black crystals hurtled from the creature, manifested from actual magic. The blades were massive, they passed through into her, the entry and exit wounds splashing bright white light. Another 3 went into her, and another. RAGE! Her whole body was consumed, as the light spilt out, [May]'s body arched backwards, attempting so so bravely to negotiate the excruciating pain going through her, unimaginable to all that hell has to offer, Cocytus was nothing to this. "The bastard! I'll kill him". Uncontrollable. As her pupil whitened, she fell limp, I couldn't take this, my head, just, stirred, dead...with no warning, what kind of mission is this!??!?!?!?! DEAD. Incomprehensible rage.8
NO!9
I'm assumed back in heaven, these guys don't have purple eyes, they're genuine, but I don't care, away with them all!10
It was the spiritual love that brought Lone back to life, the uncompromising friendships he had built up, and the things he had never felt weeks ago flooded his body like heroin. He would lay down his life for his friends, they meant that much to him, he wouldn't let on.11
“These Heavenians, I won't be one of them, not on this shift, no deity will ever take precedence over me, it's not important.”12
Just then the heavens fell, Lone was left in his own mind. He opened the random door to find a waiting room, full of himself, the voices in his head?13
*Insert lengthy dialogue*14
Lone returned to the field, the vengeance in his heart fuelling this otherwise wasted human. None if it mattered, he was gonna hurt that monster, real bad…oh aye.15
