Reader,1
It doesn’t matter who I am, where I’m from, or what I’m doing here. My identity is not nearly as important as the information I desperately need to share.2
Fernemat, the damn thing is called Fernemat! Its legend has always been around, but very few people know about it. And those who do, they hardly ever speak aloud about it. It seems there’s a general consensus in keeping this matter quiet and hidden from the public.3
But this must not be! This has to change, if anyone is to survive this nightmare at all...4
The thing, the monster, Fernemat, is a thing of evil. More evil than any thing you’ll ever know. It almost seems like the physical embodiment of evil itself! It kills people like we kill the insects that invade our homes. But that’s not the worst, no! This thing can also turn its victims into something worse!5
Common sense will tell you to stay away from it at all cost. If only I’d listen to mine...6
The damn thing had been hidden all this time, but somehow it has awakened from its slumber. It has barely been a few days, and I already know of three people on this island that have been turned...and I think I might be next!7
But I don’t want to be its victim...Oh God, I don’t want to be turned. I don’t want to die...8
Please, somebody, anyone, help me. Stop this thing before it does anymore harm. Oh God, all I was doing was researching a myth, a legend. This thing isn’t supposed to be real. But it is, and it knows about me! God, I don’t want to die...9
I am writing this letter in the hope that, should something happen here tonight, my secret will not die with me. I hope that you who read this will take up my mission of revealing the truth of this island to the people of the world.10
All the information you need is in the library. All that I know, I learned from there. But whatever you do, don’t go to the accursed temple! And this island, it holds a secret, too! A very dark secret!11
And the man...I think he knows much more than he’s revealing. Look for him, and force out the truth...I think he may be in league with Fernema—Oh God God God, someone opened the door—someone is in the toilet with me! I hope it’s not the monster. I hope, I pray to God that it doesn’t find me. I have to find a way to escape.12
If I don’t die, I’ll be back to stop this madness. If not, please, for the lives of everyone, I hope you will.13

Author notes
Just finished the story, and re-edited it like a hundred times already...and I'm STILL NOT HAPPY with it....*sob*...What do you think of this?

I really like it.
It's a very good start. Makes me wounder what Pen island is and what the people are like and who is the Mad U...great opening leaves room for the reader to want to read on because they want to know the answers to these questions. And the plots is interesting as well. Hope you keep up the good work with the other chapters.

Pretty Good!
p5 'wandering', p6 'I did some research on Mad-U and found out all I could', p7 ('now' is needed only once), p9 'For fear of my life and my sanity,', p10 'letter, please', p12 'groin'.
This is a good introduction. Makes me want to read further. I will see if I can keep up with it.

Thanks!!
Thanks, my friend, I'm glad you liked it. I was thinking perhaps the story, or rather the way it was written, really, would be a little childish...What I want here is mix a bit of humour into a dark story, and the result...hehehe, you have to read it yourself to find out. Please, do tell me how you find it. All help would be sincerely appreciated.
Cheers,

Hi Prabhunath
I do plan to read more. I'll try to read a chapter a day, but I have quite a bit of reading to do; so I can't make promises. Did you try to post in the group's reading list again?
