I had to do it for Her

I just wanted to crawl back into my stall. It was such a hot day and the sun was making my usually red-brown coat a dark wet color, due to the amount of sweating I was doing. But I was going to be good. I had to, for Her. For my Girl. 1

We had been showing the whole day and won nothing, and I could tell She was getting a little depressed. I couldn't let that happen. She dismounted me and led me to a bucket with fresh cool water. Oh how She knew how to take care of me. I drank it happily. It flowed down my throat and I felt very rejuvenated. She mounted me again and turned me towards the arena. I felt Her soft hand stroaking my neck and she whispered softly to me. Now I knew I had to give it my all. 2

She tighted the reins and I felt the bit become hard in my mouth. I could feel her anticipation as she trotted me in. 3

Make it look nice, do exactly as she says, don't buck, don't try to bite, don't refuse... I did my best to remember my training, making Her happy was all I wanted to do. I knew that She would always love me no matter how well I did, but still, I had to do this for Her. She nudged my ribs and I broke into a canter. Slow, slow, slow. You can't go fast this time. You have to make it pretty. She turned me, aligned me towards the jump. Pacing myself like I was sappost to, I waited for the signal. There it was, I felt it in Her seat, She told me to take it, so I did. Go over it and get on the right lead, the lead I hate, oh well, do it for Her, because you love Her and you have to. Again we cantered to a jump. I waited for the signal again, She gave it, and I listened. Now She told me to turn, pulling the rein to the inside and squeezing with the left leg. I listened and turned to the angled jump. I felt Her shift to the right, but I knew not to go that way, I was sappost to take the jump so I did. She took me over to more and I did my best to listen and look elegant for Her. 4

Soon, it was over. She told me to trot and circle and I made sure I was collected while I did. We went out and she dismounted and walked in front of me. I hoped I didn't let her down. I closed my eyes as She scratched my forehead. My ears went forward and I relaxed as She scratched harder and harder. All of a sudden, she stopped. My eyes shot open and I nudged Her asking to keep scratching. Instead she started walking away. I fallowed her wondering what was happening. She stopped in front of a girl handing out the ribbons. My ears shot forward yet again. My Girl took one of the ribbons! I had done it!5

She turned around and wrapped her arms around me kissing my cheek. I heard the praise in Her voice and I knew I had done well. She was pleased with me, and that's all that I wanted. Pleasing my Girl was the only thing that mattered to me, and I had done just that.6

Awwww, is so fitting, reminded me of Black Beauty, not the bad stuff but just how you described things from his point of view, very much what I asked for, good job! I'm glad you won third place...was this from your own world or just a random picture which you did this? Either way, you did an excellent job with this! Thank you very much for entering in my contest! Good Luck!
