The Swing Chapter Five

1

"I think that's it," Mrs. Rogers said in relief as Chalice lifted the last box of stuff into their car. "Are you ok?" Mrs. Rogers asked after finally noticing Chalice was in a depressed mood.2

"No, I'm perfectly fine with the fact that I have to leave everything familiar to me," Tears started to form as she finally spoke in an unsteady voice just letting it all burst inside. 3

"It'll be alright," Mrs. Rogers was hugging Chalice trying to comfort her as Tom was coming up the driveway.4

"Mom I have to leave him, nothing will be alright."5

"Uh hi," Tom walked up to them unsure of whether it was a good time. "Is this a bad time?" As he saw Chalice in tears, trying to hold back his own.6

"Oh um," Chalice cleared her throat a little as she wiped away her tears, "Hey." Tom was standing with his right hand in his jean pocket and even if he wasn't showing it well, she could see he was unhappy to see the moving van all set and ready to go.7

"I came to say my good-byes before you left."8

"Chalice, I'm going to go see if there's anything we forgot to pack." Mrs. Rogers quickly went into the house with it pretty obvious as to why.9

"Want to go to the swings one last time before I leave?" Hinting that she wanted to get away from her house.10

"Good idea," Tom smiled as he reached out for her hand; Chalice gladly held on.11

"So...do you think we can deal with long distance?" Believing they could, but asking just in case.12

"Yeah, how can I fall for another guy? None of them are as right for me as you." Chalice said it with confidence.13

"Yeah, guess your right." They both gave a little laugh and smiled. Tom moved his swing closer to Chalice hearing it creak giving away how long it had been there. Neither listening as Tom leaned in for a kiss. Holding onto the wonderful feeling of non-reality pure bliss where only joy exists. Chalice could smell his colgne and felt his arms around her. They pulled away and Chalice bit her lip wishing to still be locked. 14

"The last for a while I suppose." She looked down at the ground as sadness flooded her veins once more, bring with it the pains of reality. It would be the last....possibly for months, years, who knows.15

"I love you and I'll be waiting for your return," Tom gave her a hug, she wanted to stay in his embrace, but she knew it was time to go. 16

"I love you," As they released from holding each other and their hands hold on again as they walked back.17
