Belief is all you need.

On a cold winter's night at the Bartwich Hospital in New Jersey a young boy was born at the stroke of midnight. He was eight pounds and had bright blue eyes. But only a few hours after birth he was put onto medication as his heart was failing already. The doctors had told his mother that the boy would not live to see sunrise. Scared for her son's life his mother began detaching herself from her son. She cried her heart out as she watched her new born baby go through an endless series of tests. Finally she fell asleep on a chair near the babies crib. At three in the morning the baby stopped breathing his mother was heart broken. She watched the doctors as they tried to save the boy's life. "Time 5:07am," she heard a doctor say. Tears rolled down her cheek as she watched her baby's lifeless body. She turned around and began walking out of the hospital. 1

Just as the doctor's were about to take away the body something remarkable happened, the baby began to move again. A nurse ran out of the hospital doors, "madam, you have to see this" she said. The two women went back into the hospital "he's breathing!" the mother exclaimed tears of joy rolling down her cheeks. Picking up her son the women hugged held him tight. All the doctors began to sigh in relief. "Aarie," said one of the doctor's walking up to the women and her son. "You must name your son Aarie meaning miracle of life'" the man said. 2

"Aarie, that will be your name by son," said the women. After days of treatment Aarie was free to leave the hospital. Before going his mother thanked all the doctor's who worked hard to save her son's life. After that day every new day was one more achievement for the boy and his mother. Two years later Aarie began attending pre-school he was a very smart boy. He was very friendly and enjoyed doing new things. 3

One day Aarie's mother took him to the Barwich hospital to meet the doctor's who had helped save his life. Aarie was amazed at the work that those doctor's did on a daily basis. It was then that Aarie realized that every new day is a new begining for him. He began working harder and thinking before doing anything. The trip to the hopsital had changed Aarie. Time went by quickly for Aarie and his mother. 4

When Aarie was 12yrs old he had a bad fall and was back in hopsital once again. The fall had cracked his skull and caused damage to the right half of his brain. Aarie was scared for his life, he knew he was too young to die. But he did not give up hope, even before going into surgery he was positive that he would come back not only alive but a better person. After three hours of intense srugery and twenty five stitiches Aarie came out of surgery. The weeks that came were hard for Aarie, filled with days and days of brains and needles. 5

The day had come for Aarie to leave the hospital and go home. Before leaving he asked to speak to the surgeon who had done his surgery. "You asked for me Aarie," asked the surgeon. "This hospital has saved my life not once but twice and for that I thank you, but I promise that you won't save it a third time'" said Aarie tears in his eyes. After that day Aarie never went back to hospital.6

Aarie traveled the world helping people to get better. He was also one of the youngest surgeon's to work at the St. Charles Hospitalin Australia. Later Aarie got married and had two beautiful children Alen and Venessa. 7

At the age of 85yrs Aarie passed away on his way back to Austrlia. His last words before dying were,"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow" Aarie proved that he could live to see sunrise and much more. Because Aarie believed that he would not only come out of surgery alive but a better person he did...
