Of Trixie the Pesky Mouse:
“ Trixie Goes off in Search of the
Christmas Star to find the True
Meaning of Christmas. ”1

W. Peter Sanci Dec. 1 / 20072

“ Well it’s almost Christmas now, ” Trixie said quietly to Mother Mouse, who was sitting, knitting by the fire, after supper one night. “That’s a very hard question for me to answer dear, ” said Mother Mouse. “ A great many people ask themselves that at this time of the year, and they never get an answer. To find out,
you have to go on a long, long, journey. It’almost impossible for a little mouse like yourself. ”
“ But momma, I have to know what Christmas really means, I just have to ! ”
Mother Mouse, knowing the strong willed daughter that she had, figured that she’d better tell her what she had to do, or there would be no living with the “ Pesky Mouse. ”
“ My dear child, to discover the true meaning of Christmas, you have to seek out “The Wisest Mouse ” in the “ Faraway Forest, ” and first you must take him a special Christmas treat of “ Swiss Cheese,” which is his favorite. ”
“ Tell me more, please momma, more, ” “Not tonight, Trixie my dear, it’s way past you’re bedtime, in the morning I’ll finish me story. ”
As you can well imagine, Trixie had a pitifull sleep that night. So she rose with the sunshine,
And was sitting at the kitchen table when momma mouse came down to make the breakfast meall for her hungry family.
“ I see you are ready for you’re instructions for
you’re journey, my little one, ” said momma mouse to Trixie.
“ Oh yes, please, momma, ” said Trixie, almost pleading.
“ Alright, my dear, you must as I said yesterday, go into the heart of the “ Faraway Forest ” and find the Wise Old Mouse, and he will telll you how to find the “ Christmas Star ” and the true meaning of Christmas.
Trixie was so excited she started off that very morning.
She had momma mouse pack her a good supply of Swiss Cheese for the Wise Old Mouse, and a good couple of days rations for herself.
It was a clear cold day, and they had just received a new blanket of snow and off Trixie went with a song in her little old mouse heart to
find that mysterious Wise Old Mouse.
My oh my what a wonderful adventure this is going to be she said happily to her self.
The first body she ran into was Squeaky the Squirrel, who just happened to be out gathering some nuts..
“ Why hi there, ” she said, as happily as she knew how to say it, “ My name is Trixie the Mouse and I’m on my way to find the Wise Old Mouse of the Forest, and try to find the Christmas Star, and also find out what the true meaning of Christmas is, ” “ Do you happen to know where I can find him ? ”
“ Hi you’re self, my name is Squeaky the Squirrel,
I don’t know exactly where he is but I’d be happy to go with you, the Faraway Forest can be a pretty scarey place when you are all alone. ”
Trixie agreed, readily, as it would be a nice idea to have some company on this rather long jurney.
The two new friends immediately set off in search of the Wise Old Mouse of the Far Away Forest.
They hadn’t gone very far when who did they happen to run into but Hooty the old barn owl,
just getting ready to go to sleep for the day.
“ Who, who who, are you and what do you want in my part of this forest, ” Hooty called down from the comfort of his nice tall branch in his tree.
“ We are searching for the Wise Old Mouse to find out where we can find the “ Christmas
Star ” and the true meaning of Christmas the
Two new friends, eagerly shouted, up to Hooty.
“ Do you happen to know where we can find
him. ”
“ Who, who, who, no I don’t think so but let me join you, I would like to know the true meaning of Christmas as well. ”
So now there were three new friends off to seek this Wise Old Mouse of the Far Away Forest.
They hadn’t gone very far when they ran into another woodland creature, Dora the deer.
“ Hey, do you know where we can find this Wise Old Mouse of the forest ? ” The three new friends asked of Dora.
“ No, I’m not sure, ” she said, as she was munching on a blade of grass, “ But please let me come with you, as I would love to learn what the true Meaning of Christmas is all about.”
So once more the four new friends headed off to find this elusive Wise Old Mouse.
They heard from someone along the way that the Wise Old Mouse lived in a hollowed out old tree at the very end of the Far Away Forest, so off they went.
As they came close to the edge of the forest, there appeared to be a fire burning brightly.
So they were all afraid, but our little Trixie summoned up all of her courage and approached this burning tree.
“ Why have you disturbed my afternoon nap ? ”
Came a voice from deep within the tree.
“ We would like to find theChristmas Star and find the true meaning of Christmas, ” The four new friends shouted together.
“ My my you have come a long way to find the answer, ” said the voice.
And out from the burning fire walked this incredibely old old mouse.
“ Are you the “ Wise Old Mouse ?” that we are looking for,” said Trixie, no longer afraid.
“ That’s right, I am, he said smiling at them with a wise old smile indeed. “ What have you brought me in that sack that you are carrying ?”
He asked them quietly.
“ My momma mouse said that you liked Swiss Cheese,”
“ Guilty as charged,” Now that they were all friends, they sat down to eat together, and he began to tell them a story.
“ Many, many years ago when the earth was still
young, there was no such thing as a Christmas Star or even Christmas for that matter,” The four friends gasped in astonishment. “ Really, no Christmas Star, and no Christmas !” They were shocked to say the least.
“ Please let me continue,” said the Wise Old Mouse,
“ Many, many years ago, he began once more in a stable in a city called Jersalem the Christmas
Star shone brightly overhead, to announce the coming of a very special baby into the troubled world.”
“ This baby was going to grow up to be the “ King of Heaven.”
The four were now on the edge of their seats.
“ This baby was named “Jesus Christ” the Redeemer of the World
“ But what has this to do with the Christmas Star and the true meaning of Christmas,” they all shouted together !
“ Let me get to that magical part,” he said calmly,
Never had they heard such a tale presented so calmy and so quietly, it just had to be true they whispered to themselves .
“ The baby born that night so long ago was the Baby Jesus, to Mary, the Virgin Mother, and the Christmas Star shone overhead marking the stable in which he was born for the three wise Kings to be able to find him,”
“ And also for those sheperds keeping watch in their fields that night.
What a special, special night that was my friends,
The night that Jesus Christ was born into this world to save mankind from the evils of the “Lord of Darkness Satan” himself.”
“ And is that the end of you’re story,” they all chimed in together,
“ Hardly,” he smiled another one of his careful long smiles, “ the end of this wonderful story is in you’re hearts and how you decide to spend Christmas every year, lost in the commercialism,
which many people find themselves,”
“ Or celebrating in you’re heart the joy of love and happiness that goes with believing in the Birth of Jesus Our Lord, the choice is up to you,
my young friends, so choose wisely.”
And with those words the Wise Old Mouse of the Far Away Forest climbed back into his burning tree. The End
