Areon brought Basilik down to ground level and he jumped the 5 feet to the ground. His armor clinked as he walked around inspecting the grounds. He had seen the carnage from the air. At first he didn’t know what it was. He had only seen red, but then he landed and found a much more horrific sight. Enemy soldier had been strewn about. Many with their bowels and intestines ripped out. Another had been skinned and that was it. Another soldier had been thrown into a tree and impaled by the branches. He swayed on the branch as the wind blew.1
He sneered in disgust. As he walked he felt a crunch underneath him, and when he looked down he was taken aback when he found out that it wasn’t a stick, but a human arm with the hand still gripping a sword. Areon drew his sword, hoping that whatever did this didn’t do it to him either. He walked back to Basilik, and told her to keep watch overhead, and to screech if anything came up. Maybe it was our regiment coming through and they got into a scuffle. How would that explain the tree? That can’t be… our army hasn’t reached this far yet he thought. 2
A screech in the distance caught Areon’s ear. He rushed towards the direction and ducked out of the way to hide when he saw it. It was an enemy support dragon. It held supplies, and had looked crazed. It mouth foamed and it had an evil look on it’s face as it ate a couple of dead soldiers. Basilik screeched again and the dragon looked up while holding a soldier still in its claws. The massive green dropped the soldier. It had seen another potential meal and Areon soon realized that the dragon was not crazed. The foam had been from eating too ravenously. This dragon was twice the size of Basilik and he knew that it could easily overtake her and kill her. 3
His love for the red dragon is what threw him out into the open in front of the dragon. 4
“You will not dare touch her!” he screamed. “You will have to kill me first.” 5
He ran towards the dragon and grabbed it by the horn, and then swung onto its back as it twisted to try and grab at him. The green dragon took off, and started going towards Basilik. Areon saw that the dragon was going to kill Basilik and try to shake him off of its back. As the dragon got close to Basilik, Areon plunged through the soft tissue behind the neck of the dragon and then started cutting. The incision was very large and flapping open. The dragon started to go limp beneath him. They were above Basilik now, and Areon stood on the dying greens back, and sheathed his sword. As they came close to Basilik, he jumped from the green dragon and Basilik caught him on her nose. He crawled to her saddle, and he hugged her. 6
“I wouldn’t let anything happen to you.” he said, as he pushed her onward through the air. 7

honestly I don't have any inspiration for this piece except thatthe dragon is supposed to represent someone I love and would kill for, basically. It is a bigger part of other stories, starting on Zeke's defense, that would be the beginning.
