I'm not okay (trust me) -edited-

The first day of Belleville high school, New Jersey and everyone is buzzing, the older kids all seem to know one another, but the first years are all trying to get to know eachother. Except four of them. 1

The first, Gerard, was not a first year, but a second year, he knew nobody in his year and wanted it to stay that way. He was full of bitter hate for all the jocks that had made his life a misery in middle school, mostly because he was held at gun point when he was 15, by those boys, just because he looked different and listened to music like The misfits and The smashing Pumpkins. Gerard always tried to draw as little attention as possible to himself, and usually sat at the back of class, drawing. 2

The second, Mikey was Gerard's younger brother, and best friend. He had glasses and asthma and because of this, plus the fact he usually wore black and listened to rock, everyone seemed to bully him. Of course,Gerard was very protective of Mikey, especially since he was prone to do stupid things, like sticking forks in toaster while they were still plugged in, and taking heaters into the shower.3

Another of the first years, Ray, was one of Mikey's and Gerard's friends, Mikey was quite sociable, he made friends with people who were like him, but Gerard spent all his time in his bedroom at home, just drawing and sleeping. Ray was good friends with mikey, but not so with Gerard, to him, Gerard was "Mikey's hermit older brother".4

Frank, who was a new friend of Mikey's, and had not met Gerard yet, was usually bullied for his size, Beause he was a lot smaller then the other kids at school. It didnt help that he was a bit of a punk, and usually only wore black, and listened to rock, Like Mikey.5

A new addition to the school, Bob, had just moved to Jersey from Chicago, and had instantly been labelled as "an outcast" and had been sitting alone at lunch, on the steps to the school, as he had been shunned from the lunch tables when he met Mikey, Gerard and Ray.6

They saw him sitting alone, and Mikey and Ray went over to him,
"Hey, You're new to town, arent you?" they asked,
"Yeah, I moved here from Chigago in the summer." He said quickly, but glad that someone had actually spoken to him.
"Mind if we join you?" Ray asked,
"Go ahead" Bob gestured to the steps next to him.7

After seeing them sit down, Gerard came over, and sat with them. Frank was walking past, looking for somewhere to sit, when he heard someone call his name,
"Mikey! Come sit here!" It was Mikey. Frank joined them, and they began talking about music, and how they'd always wanted to be in a band, Frank was already in a band, Pencey Prep, but things were'nt working out too well. 8
