"Can we go to the zoo Daddy?" six year old Molly asked her father.1
"Sorry sweet but I just don't have the time right now, maybe some other time, alright?"
That's how it all started; Garret Davis never had time for his wife or his daughter. All he had time for was his work. To draw blue prints for million dollar estates and multi-million dollar buildings. As much as he loved his Family, it always seemed like he loved his job more.2
"You never have time for this family Garret! When, will you make time!?” His wife yelled, she was on the brink of tears.3
“You know why I don’t have time?! Because I’m working to support you and Molly! DON’T YOU APPERCIATE IT?! DID YOU EVER APPRECHIATE ANYTHING I FUCKING DO?!” Garret slammed his hands down on the kitchen table. 4
“I can’t take it anymore. I want you to spend time with Molly but you “can’t”. I’m leaving. But I’m not taking full custody of Molly, It’ll be shared, you need to learn to take care of her, and to not be at the office 18 hours a day.” His wife ran up the stairs with anger in her eyes, she was angry and crying. She grabbed her suit case and kissed her sleeping daughters forehead. “I’ll get her on Friday night and bring her home on Sunday. I’ll talk to you and our lawyer with in the week.” Before Garret said anything the she was half way to the car.5
Garret Sat on the couch and stared at the wall of his lettuce colored living room. I’ve got to get my act together, for Molly……Or I might lose her too he thought I can’t lose someone else I love.6

“Hey Mo, want to go to a movie on Thursday night?” Garret asked his 14 year old.8
It had been eight years since garret and his ex wife had gotten a divorce, Garret made a fair change to how much time he had to take care of his daughter. He would go to work after she got on the bus for school, then he would pick her up from day care after work.9
Often time that wasn’t enough. He would have things to do when he got home, work he had to finish. As well help Molly with home work if she needed it and prepare food. He was beat by the time 6 o’ clock rolled around.10
“Nah Hilary and I are going to the library that night to study. Maybe next week?” she smiled at her father. 11
“Yeah alright but next time you make plans let me know about it, alright?”12
“Alright” She hugged her father, and then went up stairs to her room.
That was the forth time Molly was going out wit her friends instead of her father. In that instant Garret realized that’s what he had done to his wife, to Molly.13
The time you neglect to spend with someone, comes back when they don’t want to spend time with you. A tear ran down Garret’s face while he thought, not realizing that Molly was behind him.14
“Dad, Are you alright?” She asked15
Garret turned and smiled at his daughter “I’m fine sweetheart.” He walked over to his little girl and hugged her like he didn’t want her to go anywhere “I’ll always be here for you, no matter when you need me, just call me of something talk to me and I’ll help you, and support you.”16
“I know you will Daddy.” She hugged her father back17
“Also I’m sorry I’ve been so busy, and that Time has been an issue. But I’m trying to make an effort to make time. Do you forgive me?” He looked at his daughters face.18
“ Of course I do”19

Oh wow. This is inspiring and emotional also. I think you used a really good theme in this story. At first, I found it strange that his wife wanted to leave because he wouldn't take his daughter to the zoo, but then I realized that it was because he was doing this constantly... not just once in a while. Overall, excellent job, and best of luck in my contest. Thanks for the entry
