Part two

I sighed, what a nice dream I had had, wouldn’t it be wonderful if those sort of fairy tales could happen. I felt that lovely warm feeling like when you wake up from a nice long sleep and are totally refreshed. I rolled over, my eyes shot open. I felt around me. It hadn’t been a dream. I was lying face down on earth, I looked to what I thought was my deluxe, double silent night bed, it was a bed of moss balanced on sticks, I looked down at myself and looked with amazement at my mud caked, singed clothes. I had never been this dirty in my life, I pulled myself up stretching my aching bones looking at disgust at where I spent the night.1

I looked around at my hovel to see that it was a mud hut, with a straw roof, I looked around and remembered I had let go of my bag when I pulled the ring off my finger. 2

“hmmmm, where is the ring?” I asked myself and looked around, my search became mor frantic as I found it wasn’t here. 3

“Oh good god” I said to myself as I realised that when I had ripped the ring off my finger I had let go of it. I was stuck here. On a planet light years away from home, from my mum, from everything. The enormity of it all struck me and I found I had to hold back tears,. Then something behind me (as I was now stood up facing the opposite wall to the leather screen that was keeping the light out) swept aside the screen and before I had time to respond enveloped huge arms around me, 4

“AHHHHHHH” I screamed kicking and punching he monster that was holding me,5

“calm down child, I only want to bring you to breakfast” said the thing, I looked wildly around me and found I was in the arms of a man, but a monster of a man with a commanding voice and shaggy beard.6

I relaxed because it was obvious I would never be able to fight him off and let him carry me through the leather screen. 7

What I saw after my eyes adjusted to the dazzling sun astounded me. There was hundreds of small, shrew like people, all on their knees and praising me in small, high pitched voices. They reminded me of over sized human mice, and they were all dressed in rags. 9

“I must talk to you later, for I know planet you have come from” he rumpled, and I stared after him in wonder. 10

All the fabulous foods, the amazing plays and everything else just evaporated in my mind to wonder that there was an exit from this annoying, shrew world. I soon found out why they worshipped me, because of some prophesy from a very old, wise “mannikin” as they call themselves. As dusk came and they jungle quietened, the light reflecting beautifully from the lake next to us, and filtering through the huge, heavy leaves drooping from the strange lollipop trees. I looked about, breathing in the heady, spicy smell of where I was and watched, again amazed. The shrews as darkness hit them (on this strange planet light travelled much more slowly so you could see the blackness of night flow smoothly up to you) drop to the floor as if they have fainted.11

I moved in between the sleeping mannikins I saw a light next to the lake and walked, cautiously towards it. I watched the giant for a while sat by the fire until I startled him by stepping out of the shadow of a leaf that was hiding me and said 12

“what do you know about Earth then, tell me I must get home”13

I sat down by the fire finding it surprisingly cold out of the forest.14

“ Earth, the magical name, the name that haunts me” he rumbled. I frowned confused, 15

“but I must direct the young one, for it is my job” he sighed he looked at me his green, emerald eyes and with that stones adamantine glitter. “I must take you back to the portal and with that he stood scooped me up and set off at a steady lope through the trees. I was completely confused and asked,16

“why does Earth haunt you?” And then came hundreds more questions, “what is the ring? Where is it?” and so on. He answered them all with a brief 17

“you will find out” and in the end I gave up, falling into the rhythm of his running and eventually falling asleep, all warm and feeling nice.18

I woke because we had slowed down, I looked around drowsy still but then I saw something so huge and amazing it took even my imagination a while to comprehend. It was a huge, fluorescent, bluey green circle, with a fantastic glowing blue and green aura around it, and looking inside watching the endless, swirling, whirlpool of light could of kept me hypnotised for hours. But he said instead19

“you will find the answers on my fantastic planet that god took from me, go and discover” he yelled and with that he flung head over heels into the portal. As I hit it all the wonderful, warm feelings I had disappeared and was replaced by revulsion and a weird hateful feeling. As I span round and round I got more and more angry not noticing the wonderful colours and outstandingly beautiful space around me for (though I didn’t realize it) I was going back the was the ring took me, but going through the portal I missed the atmosphere. 20

I hit London slowly and stumbled as I fell, I looked around watching the cars zooming past then the cold hit me and it felt like I had been dumped in the sea. I shivered then realized I had one foot in my lunch box, I took it out and looked at my squished sandwiches, then it all came too much and I heard a 21

“hey are you all right?” from a passing person as I fell down blackness enveloping me.22
